    That third wire may be to the low warning light Mine is on permanently since I ran right out of fuel so I guess the switch is jammed in the tank The normal gauge works OK

    If you set on of the gadget up to warn of noise you could make the noise with a stat connected to a buzzer, Buzzer goes off, your phone rings and you can hear the buzzer [simples]
