    New Toy Cut Out Today...

I haven't ever bought anything from the internet, except Isle of Man ferry tickets! I assumed that batteries were expensive to ship due to their acid contents (sealed-for-life can still leak if dropped by ham-fisted couriers!), so I went on the wisdom of a hint from an old acquaintance who told...

    New Toy Cut Out Today...

Cheers, chaps! 'Makeitfit' - thanks for that generous offer - a mate's come up trumps loaclly, though, with a new tailpipe for next-to-nowt, courtesy of a trade contact... I'll take a look at 'Tayna' for the battery, though I'm reluctant to buy such items via the internet, in case they fail...

    New Toy Cut Out Today...

Much ta, Clivvy! It's my first diesel, so it's a scary step into the "unknown" for me - tho' I've stripped & rebuilt several different petrol engines, so the basic mechanicals & principles don't frighten me, just don't know all the flippin' sensors, oojemiflips & doohickeys that they fit to...

    New Toy Cut Out Today...

I'm pleading ignorance of diesels, here - what & where is the MAF, please? And the EGR valve - I know what one is, but where exactly is it? Sorry, chaps... I'll go to the downloads for the codes, and we'll see... Thanks a milllion for your assistance & advice, guys - I knew it'd be worth...

    'Tis Mine!!!!

Clivvy - loads of MX5's about in East Anglia, at decent prices, too; my missus has always wanted one, so when I found an automatic Eunos, I jumped at it... R1cho - won't be getting muddy in this 'un - my hip, back & neck won't stand anything more than a flat field, I'm afraid! Got the Mav...

    New Toy Cut Out Today...

...And to be honest, I damn' near broke down too! You wouldn't believe how stressful it's been in the past month or more... Won't go into that on here, tho'... Anyway - had a shopping trip across town; first start-up, thought the battery seemed a bit sluggish, but it started ok. Trundling...

    'Tis Mine!!!!

Yep, 'tis one o' they... ...And if this Macaroon...I mean Maverick WAS yours - WHY THE BL**DY HELL DID YOU SELL IT WITH A BROKEN ZORST, DUD BATTERY & CRUDDED-UP AIRFILTER??? :p (See thread elsewhere in the Maverick Engine Forum...)

    'Tis Mine!!!!

" 'Ere y' gew!", as they say hereabouts in Silly Suffolk; my latest acquisition, to replace my brutally-upended Daihastu Sportrak - one chunky-looking Ford Maverick SWB 2.7TDi! It looks black in the picture, but it's more like black cherry - is that the right description of what seems a rare...

    Glow plug help

Ta, Briggie - appreciate it! Got a bit of spring-cleaning to do in mine (Poo! Fag-ash Fred had it, I reckon!), so I'll dabble with the buttons & things when I'm in there... Thanks folks!:clap

    Glow plug help

Ah! Er...em... Did I say I was new on here, too? :o Must've been mad to do it, but I just jumped in at the deep end, buying my Mav' on impulse without time to absorb all the bells, whistles & buttons...so, which light's the glow-plug light? Sorry for being a bit newbie-dumb - I'll look...

    Yoo-Hoo From Silly Suffolk!

Cheers, Guys! Hey, Clivvy - we've got a Mazda MX5 MK1 (another recent acquisition - what we were going to swap the MR2 for!). We've also got an early MK1 MR2 (2nd oldest registered survivor in this country), and just for REAL fun, a Pontiac Fiero SE 2.8 V6 (US equivalent of the MR2). Not being...

    Glow plug help

...And talking of glow-plugs - I take it they come on automatically as soon as you turn the ignition key? How long should you wait before turning the starter? My only experience with diesels is through new "state-of-the-art" company vans with "instant start" capabilities...

    Brake Calipers

...And if the calipers are duff, I know of a breaker in Suffolk (nr Bungay) who has a few Terranos/Mavericks in the yard - one reason I went for my old/new Mav' today!

    Yoo-Hoo From Silly Suffolk!

Howdy-doody, all! Newbie to the forum & now a new owner of a P-reg Ford Maverick SWB 2.7Tdi in need of a little cosmetic attention (the car, not me!), so I'll be picking brains for a while on here! :bow I acquired the Mav' this evening as a trade-in deal on a Toyota MR2 MK2, after...
