Patrol clutch & many other bits

Pretty poor day I am afraid, gear levers, exhaust, prop shafts, bell housing bolts, starter all came off without problem, this was about 2.30 so thought I would have the clutch out today, but not having any of it, the 8 bolts that secure the X member to the chassis have stupidly overlong bolts...

Patrol clutch & many other bits

Having now sorted my injector pump, now is the time to sort my worn out clutch amongst other things, will try and take pics as I go but you know how it is with cameras and greasy hands etc, see you tomorrow, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

That is a bit of a bummer, I dislike locking wheel nuts for that reason, I have an old selection of 12 sided sockets many in imperial and SAE sizes, my method is to select one that is just a tad tight and hammer it on with a good sized lump hammer, always works for me, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

Well all up and running again, steady idle, starts on the button, power a tad down but have not fine tuned it yet, so blocked or obstructed pin hole it was, now to get on with the clutch, front disks & pads, control arm bushes, rear air springs and reinforced rear wings, but instead of hijacking...

    Time to say goodbye?

Mix and match, best bits of both pumps, within the specs in the manual (which is not the most specific of all time), Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

Purely by accident discovered the secret of this little feller, it is the sliding sleeve that is controlled by the governor flyweights, whilst comparing the two for wear/differences etc discovered the small metering hole, when I thought back to when I disassembled in on Pump No 1 (the pump just...

    Time to say goodbye?

I like the sheet bender, iirc Makeitfit obtained a manual one but forget the details, I have no need as a mate in Eastbourne has a large one that can do anything I could ever need, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

Wow, has this motor ever resided in or near the Sea? you certainly have some rot there, but sure you will sort it, re my pump cannot be precise as rev counter is not operating but I guess around 1800 and if I back off the idle screw it gradually dies, most odd, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

All looking good, shame about the gearbox bits not arriving, nothing you can do but wait, re my pump got the pressure stabilized but still as it warms up so does the idle increase, so pump is off now to be worked on over the W/E, time will tell, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

How did the retainer become "damaged", Rick

Just logged on again to say Hello!

Hi nice to see you are still about, I have a few bit to attend to on my trusty Patrol, clutch has given up after 170k front disks and pads after Slindon mud and VE pump problems as well as needing some TLC to rear wings, some extra stiffening steel will be going in, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

SPS did not recognise it and suggested National Shower Spares, you can send them a pic to see if they can match it with a make and model, I would be pulling the knobs and plates and have a look at the insides, if there are no grub screws and the knob centres do not come off then they will be...

    Time to say goodbye?

It is not one I recognise and after having a look in my normal places cannot see one like it, my first thought was Aqualisa but most of that style are Digital, I have taken a screen shot so when I pop to town later I will ask my suppliers, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

What is the wall it is on, is there access on the other side, is it a stud wall, does it look like the chrome plates come off, it could be a digital unit, does it have power, etc, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

If this is a bar thermostatic mixer, yes change the cartridge, Rick

    Time to say goodbye?

Having looked at it more closely it looks as though I am wrong, what threw me was the bearing is shown on the layshaft being pulled with a puller (MT24)and your bearing is I assume still in the casing, if so it looks like you can pull the gear and and the 1st motion shaft together, in my defence...

    Time to say goodbye?

The box in the link does not correspond to yours, only given it a quick look but layshaft is different, Rick
