    Used Tunit available

I already bought the K&N that goes into the original housing. But you are right It could stand to have the intake into the filter opened up a bit, as is often mentioned on here. :thumbs Mike

    Used Tunit available

I am somewhat bummed about not being able to put it on the rolling road today. But it is rescheduled for Wednesday!:clap I can tell that there is definitely more of pull from lower down on the RPM band. I wish that it was even more right off idle, We will see what we can do. I am thinking...

    Used Tunit available

Makeitfit, There is NO way that mine will come anywhere close to your highly modded ride. :bow But it would be nice to have some low end grunt for pulling my trailer. I will try to get more specific info and post that on Monday. Mike

    Used Tunit available

OK guys I am going to attempt to show what I did. I have had a couple problems on going for the last year in which I have owned the maverick. First the first intake gasket was leaking. And secondly, the oil/crankcase vapor separator is leaking from a joint. I also planned to remove the EGR...

    Used Tunit available

Zippy, No they did not. I asked about that and they said that they would just turn the unit off and establish the base and then the 4 different positions which will each demonstrate the overall change. I will try to post the picture of the map when it is all done. Mike

They conected the little box up to my ECU and all works. It is nice to feel that extra kick. :naughty On monday they will put it on the rolling road to show just how much it is developing. Mike

    Used Tunit available

Because I considered putting a Tunit on my Maverick I corresponded with Jamie of Tunit. He just told me that they have a used tunit II coming in as a person is changing vehicles. I am not sure how much it is, but if someone is looking you might want to contact him and get in line. However...

    New Roof Rack Build

If your "operation involves welding, then do be careful as galvanized makes for poor welds and creates noxious fumes. A very nice find!:thumb2 Mike

    black diesel in tank!nissan mistral

I have seen the black bug also in heavy equipment because they were refueling from barrels in a remote location. It is nasty slimy stuff. The sticky about it is in the forum "Engine and Running Gear" or click here. Mike

Would this bolt up to my gear box ...

:lol The trouble with all of those engines is that they lack low end torque--High RPM horsepower out that kazoo, but with the stock gear ratios they would be worthless--It would be a case of "wrong application". However, if you were to put something like this, but I am not sure your gear box...

    ZD30 Fuel Filter Priming Help

fill the new filter with clean fuel, install full filter, pump the fuel priming pump (black plastic knob on filter housing) until it is hard, start the truck and see how it goes--there may be a bit more air, but it will work its way out on its on if it is not sucking in any new air. Mike

    Black smoke

I second the air filter suggestion. That would be my first thought, It is clear that it is over fueling, that is that there is too much fuel for the air available. Try to think of things that could cause that. blockage in air intake (bird's nest in intake pipes before filter--don't laugh I...

    Broken engine

Ouch in a major way. Not good--I have heard of this happening, but not on these trucks. It looks like the exhaust valve head just snapped off and imbedded itself in the piston. No compression in that cylinder. A replacement engine is in order. I do not know what one costs there but they...

    random/temporary loss of power

Zippy in another thread he stated that he changed the crank position sensor. That seems to have cured his problems. mike

    Had my MOT today

All part of the Plan! :D Plank, I think that this was all part of your plan. My dad was a supervisor for a road construction company, when the job was finished and ready for inspection he would leave something obvious that they would see and then they were not so nitpicky about tiny little...

    Leaking clutch/gearbox

If it is coming from the bell housing (the cover for the clutch), then I would suspect transmission oil and transmission front seal, which usually indicates that the input shaft bearing of the tranny is on its way out. From what I have read here that is not that uncommon of a thing. That is my...

    FT’s Patrol Project

I just saw and read this thread from start to end and must say, "That is a job well done." :thumbs:clap I hope that you get your electrical snaffus sorted soon and get her on the road. Very nice thread!! Mike

Doh - I stuffed it already!

sorry to hear of your problems. I have used a hot glue gun and high temp glue sticks for this kind of thing. It is a great temporary fix -- better in the longer term is the stitching with a solder iron and fiberglass. Mike
