    wanted - EGR blanking plate

I did not find it as difficult to remove the EGR entirely, at least as much as I was anticipating it to be based on all the comments on the forum. I do have a very nice set of ratcheting end wrenches, which helped inmensely. :thumbs I used a piece of 4 mm stainless plate that I happen to...

Petrol radiator in diesel is it a problem ?

The problem will be in the expansion and contraction. It will tend to naturally airlock if the rad cap is not on the top. Any air drawn in or created inside will collect in the top (bottom) of the radiator and ultimately create an airlock. Who would even think of such a thing? :nenau Or fill...

    wont rev above 3000rpm

That spring and ball are the pressure relief for the pump and is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for the operation of the pump. It regulates the pressure inside the pump to 13 pounds (if I remember correctly). If it is not there (or leaking) your truck will lack power, especially in higher revs, and will...

    EGR and Throttle body

What I did was remove the egr valve completely and then made 2 gasket sized plates (4mm of stainless scrap): 1 I just epoxied to the hole in the intake and the second I epoxied and bolted to the exhaust pipe to the valve. (Some day i am going to try to get to the other end of the pipe and block...

Bite the bullet ! Van for sale

Going to Poland is not so bad:thumb2--but the fact is that right hand drive trucks end up as parts and are sold on Allegro (our "e-bay" equivalent). For example: This ad for the intake manifold. Mike

Looking for some sort of tuning box ? Any ideas

When I was looking I contacted Tunit directly and they said that they were getting an older tunit 2 in and they could sell it to me ( I cannot remember for how much.) However, he added that they were coming out with a new one that has a faster processor. So I would have to decide if I wanted...

    Consult has arrived!

Could it be the fuel return pressure relief valve stuck open?? I have read that will cause hard starting, but did not read that it would cause no starting. It is an easy check though as you simply pinch almost totally the return hose and see if that helps. The relief regulates the fuel...

    Sump Leak

If I remember right he had to remove the front axle to drop the pan. But then if you are talking about changing it for another then that would also be true. Mike

Bought a reader, but can't set it up..lol

I started a thread on it and believe that we have isolated it to fuel, but it will take a bit of time to run everything down and I am leaving Monday for Israel for 2 weeks. :thumbs So I have no time to sort it right now. My thread is called "Rolling Road Test." I also think that the laptop...

Bought a reader, but can't set it up..lol

Kamsin I an following this closely because I have a 97 Maverick also and have a power problem. I have considered this, but was not sure what is necessary--I will let you sort it for me. :augie I am cheering you on and your success will mean an easier path for me. :clap Mike

open engine breather, could water enter engine here ?

The following should be inserted after the "drip on your drive." But that was messy so they connected the line from the valve cover up to the intake of the engine so that these escaped gasses would just be burned and shot out the exhaust. But some engineers decided that too much oil was lost...

open engine breather, could water enter engine here ?

Let me see if I can help in this. There are 3 lines coming to the black cylinder thing: 1, from the rocker cover at the top of the engine; 2, from the sump at the bottom of the engine. Both of these will be pressurized equally with gasses escaping past the pistons They are BOTH ultimately...

Car won't start only crank over

Sometimes the NATS gets confused I think, but I have had success simply by pulling the key, holding it away from the switch for a few seconds, and then trying again. Maybe that will do it. Mike

    Rolling Road Test

I would be inclined to agree with you, except the map shows a drop off after 3000 and that should not be--it should continue out pretty flat. So the map indicates that it is loosing power when it should not. Now where that problem is located is the goal of mechanical investigation. Right now...

    Rolling Road Test

I have been thinking of the pressure relief, because sometimes I do have to crank it a bit before it fires when it is cold. I read in a thread here somewhere that is a classic sign of a leaking relief. So that is something that I will check. Mike

    Rolling Road Test

I forgot to ask about transmission losses, but I thought of it. I think that the computer compensates for it, but how much and how would it know that? :nenau Mike

    Rolling Road Test

Last week I took the plunge and got a Power Box installed in my 97 LWB Maverick TDI. I originally decided to get the Power Box because I tow an equipment trailer with a mini-excavator and I was looking for more get-it rolling power. Low end grunt to get a load on its way, is what was promised...

    Used Tunit available

I am not 100% positive, but I believe that the company that makes the box that I bought is called "V-Tech". The company seems to originate in Germany, but they have distributors all over Europe. Their web site, http://vtechtuning.eu, seems to be more complete and with greater detail in...
