Power steering leak from metal tube

Power steering leak from metal tube

It sounds straight forward to repair but when I chop out the section of old metal pipe can I use a bog standard junior hacksaw or do I need something a bit more refined? I have an air cut-off tool so this might be better. Also what sort of clips can I use to secure the rubber pipe on the old...

Power steering leak from metal tube

So when you say "flared" I take it this means making the ends of the pipe slightly wider to create some kind of lip. Each end is inserted into the pipe (rubber?) and then clamped with jubilee clips rather like the u-bend hose. I assume the flared lip acts as a sealing edge within the tube. Am I...

Power steering leak from metal tube

Whilst performing my oil change (still ongoing stuck filter) I noticed that there was an oily drip from the underside skid tray under the engine. The oil seems clear and a bit thicker than diesel but no smell. I removed the tray and can see two metal pipes where about a six inch section is...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

Here's the replacement oil filter housing and the cooler to which it was attached. I'm surprised how deep the thread goes, just under two inches.

    M12 Steering Stop Caps

Mine were a pain in the bum to get off. Lots of twisting with grips for about ten minutes each. Make sure you stock up on your profanities as steering stops use them quite quickly. Got mine from Milners last year but I'm sure I paid a lot less than they're charging now ...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

I have no trust in franchised dealers whatsoever. Perry's and Evans Halshaw saw to that. Have used small family owned single site garages for the last 20 years. This is my first self service for the enjoyment of doing it and save some money at the same time. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

I think I'll be surprised at the amount of crap in it once it is removed. The oil catch tray beneath it doesn't look as if it has caught any oil for quite some time despite FSH invoices. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

Thanks for all the replies. I'm waiting for the second hand filter housing to arrive. Hopefully it won't be stuck to cooler and then I'll let the garage do its best. Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

Just bought it seeing that there are bugger all elsewhere. Just it comes off the cooler if needed! Sent from my Alba 10" using Tapatalk

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

As far as I know the ZD30DDTi engine is fitted to the Patrol and several cars that I've never heard of ... Patrol - Chassis Code Y61 Caravan - Chassis Code E25 and VWE25 Urvan - Chassis Code E25 Homy - Chassis Code E25 Elgrand - Chassis Code E50, E51 Terrano - Chassis...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

2.5Kgfm or 24.5Nm. Well the garage just tried and and stopped trying with the breaking bar and advised getting a spare housing in case the stuck one breaks so that I won't be stuck without a car. So does anyone know where I can get one of these aluminium oil filter housing from other than...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

Well after trying my best He-Man attempts several times with proper cursing it still won't budge. So, I've called the local garage and arranged to drop by and let them use their best cursing. They said the new oil shouldn't be too upsetting with the old filter as they're only two miles away...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

It looks like I haven't got a choice with the new oil as the old oil is drained into containers that I've just noticed has condensed water droplets at the top inside (old 5l screenwash containers). I did think about putting the old oil back in but I don't want to risk water going in with the old...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

Interestingly there is a built-in metal tray right below it to catch the oil when it comes off. From the tray is a 6-7" drain hose pointing directly at the ground. Nice of Nissan to do that! This bugger will not shift though. I have a feeling that I will be refilling with new oil and calling in...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

I believe you're correct, it's different to the 2.7l. The element is only changed not the housing. Here's a better link to the job ... https://teon.co/cars/nissan-terrano-diesel-3-dot-0-di/manuals/51b71dfba114603275000278/chapters/interim-service/chapter_parts/change-oil-filter I'll keep...

    Stuck Sump Plug

I've started a new thread ... http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=315234#post315234 ... but this is on the 3.0 litre where the oil filter is in a reusable cast aluminium housing. See pic on thread. Yes I do have a filter strap (metal ribboned one) but I'm not sure if...

    Stuck oil filter on 3.0

My last thread was a stuck sump plug. But now that's freed up and drained I now find that the oil filter is stuck fast. The engine is warm, any tips on shifting this thing before my school run at 4:00? If desperate could I put the new oil in with the existing filter and try later or will this...

    Stuck Sump Plug

One door opens .... Now got the sump plug off and drained but now I cannot for the life of me get the sodding oil filter off. I'll start a new thread for this one. http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=315234#post315234

    Stuck Sump Plug

After doing the school run I got it up on ramps, got the nice new shiney socket set out and had another go. A few thumps up with some suitable cursing and it shifted. I think the cursing did it!
