    Biodiesel in 1998 Y61 2.8 GR SE?

Have a read of this > http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/vegetable.aspx As most vehicles 1998 or earlier were not common rail I would expect your vehicle to be quite suitable for WELL MADE biodiesel. Are you making your own Brew or buying it?

Help needed - major issues before holiday

Update After removing the fan attached to the water pump I was able "just" to fit the condenser. Car is back together now. Fingers crossed that when I have the car re-gassed it holds the pressure for the duration of my holiday at least. Conclusion: On the later model T20 (2000-2004?)when...

Help needed - major issues before holiday

Rick. Clearly my setup is different than yours. Geoff If i remove the bumper the job will be easy. My problem is that some muppet has damaged almost all of the screws that hold the bumper on. Why do people do that, I always try and replace old screws with new where possible. :doh Its a bad...

Rick There is evidence of leakage from the condenser. But you are correct in saying that the rubber sleeves can cause corrosion too. I have also had to remove a 2" section of the 8mm pipe due to this. I bought A straight connector for £3.00 to correct this. (See earlier post)

Help needed - major issues before holiday

Thanks for the comments so far. Tonight I started the stripdown: removing the radiator is quite easy 15 minutes and the coolent is all collected (replaced last year) and rad in the garage. It looks quite old and I think the leak was from the top left corner (when viewing from the front in...

Help needed - major issues before holiday

Hi Rick Do you mean the water rad pipes corrode or the condensor rad pipes? If it's the water rad I'm guessing I can just clean up the rusty bits and re-tighten? Actually I think my radiator pipes are plastic - I'll check later. Thanks

Help needed - major issues before holiday

I am travelling to France in 7 days with the wife 3 kids and a 20 foot boat. I serviced the car a few weeks ago, passed the MOT had the aircon re-gassed and tinted the windows. Temps in France can reach 40 c and having good aircon is essential. Today while having a look under the bonnet I...

    MOT

Car passed the MOT today :clap :clap :clap THe ABS light was off today :D The flashing airbag light is now a FAIL for the MOT (unless I have been lied to?) £35 to connect it to the garages code reader and it's to do with historic error not live ones  As it's been flashing since i...

    MOT

It's that time again for me. Everything appears to be working so I'm hoping for a pass. Airbag light on is still only an advisory - my intermittant ABS light I hope its not on at the time of the test though. Sometimes it's on for days and then off for days or it can go on or off in a single...

    Engine oil

I have been using 15w/40 mineral oil. It has been discussed on here many times about mineral vs Semi synthetic and fully synthetic. The general concensus is that the synthetics cause the engines to burn oil and that oil levels drop. When Mineral oil is used the oil stays level. 7 litres is...

    Advice Please

Yep this was my experience too. About 800 for MCP and £250 + £230 separately. I would buy a skoda octavia with the 1.9 tdi 130 BHP PD engine. Cheap car runs for ever 50-60 MPG

    Not reving very well

White/grey smoke as you said in your OP is a fuel issue. If your turbo was faulty/failing it would be burning oil and would be a blue smoke. If you have been running Veg for a while, have you checked your injector leak off pipes?

    Air con pipe wanted?

I had the car gassed a couple of weeks ago. They said it had no leaks so proceeded to fill it. 2 weeks later it had stopped working. I took it back and they said they would look for a leak - so they gassed it again and added a dye and sent me on my way :doh Last night I thought I would try and...

Pics of my Little job this morning

Just these so far. It was the same on my other car leak off pipes perished quickly other pipes all OK. BTW I used a heat gun on the ends of the pipe before pushing them on. I think this helped. If you don't have a heat gun you could use something like a flask with boiling water in it though.
