here's the AT section from the manual.
there's a diagostic procedure you can run to check the electrical side of things.
could be a dodgey selenoid or just low on transmission fluid.
the cable between the sensor and plug breaks down over time.
The cable can be cut near the sensor and the plug cut off and a new cable of the same size soldered/crimped in place.
not owned a terrano with ABS that i haven't changed the cable on.

Mines still poorley.Needs the gearbox fitting,bit of welding under the front arch and a new set of of brake discs and pads.
Will have it back up and running but like you say it's finding the time.
Had always wanted a little campervan so I took the plunge and bought a renault master 2.2 dci swb bus.

Had to do a fair bit of welding for last years mot and recently had to replace the overrun alternator pulley, power steering pump pulley, front crank seal and...
well i parted company with the Black curse on monday evening so this project is no more.
Still got my 2.7 LWB which i'm intending on getting back up and running this year.:thumb2
nice looking motor.
One thing to look out for is rust around the fuel filler.
This can get into the tank and lines and cause injector pump issues(just ask terranosaurasdoug)
Other than that i don't really know too much about them either.
