Hi Everyone,
For the first time since buying the truck in 2008 with 43000 miles, it has broken down (see image below
)
On the way to work on Friday it started to behave a bit strangely when changing gear on the move and pulling away from a standstill. There seemed to be a slight hesitancy in the take up of power followed by a jolt (which is the best way to describe it) once on the move. After a couple of miles, I lost all drive completely and had to coast to a safe harbour.
I suspect the clutch, however, the pedal feels quite normal and I can change all of the gears without a problem although there is now no drive to the wheels at all in either 2wd or 4wd?
I suspect the clutch, but there is an odd clanking noise coming from the part of the gearbox/drivetrain just before it connects to the prop-shaft when depressing and lifting the clutch pedal.
I think this is going to be too big a job for me, so I have asked a local 'small business' mechanic to look at it. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions then I would be grateful. It has 94000 miles on it and the engine runs perfectly. It'd be a shame to scrap after 50000 pretty faultless miles.
Thanks
Alan
