Default pickd it up today, problems already!!!!

well as it says picked up the maverick today, 30 mins later on the way home, BANG!!!!! goes the gearbox breather, take it back, and just make it and they clean the breather out top up the gearbox and away we go again,

NOT A GOOD START IM THINKING!!!!!

thats been fine since, done 100miles after and all seems fine,BUT,

at tick over it idles a bit rough, bit like a taxi, although as you pick speed up it clears, any ideas????

and also apparently the drivers side has a dry joint that just needs greasing? is that ok or should it need a new joint?

happy enough with it still just want to sort this tickover problem out, its had new plugs, leads, cap and rotor so im thinking crap in the jets maybe?
suggestions anyone?

thanks again for looking and reading, i do apprieciate it and thanks for any tips,
all the best,
craig

Default sorry

do u think putting crap in the jets will help.

I know the last thing u need when you have problems is a smart arse.

You could have an air leak.

Someone will say its dangerous but spray WD40 over the pipes/ hoses gaskets of the injection system.

If the hunting or rough running stops on contact with the wd 40 you have found your air leak.

good luck gutted you had a bad start, stick with it the trucs are worth i, so is this site

Dry joint on drivers side???? Is that creaking on full lock? If so its the steering stop sthat need greasing - non of the joints are greasable.

bad start dude, i am the same, hadnt had mine long before the troubles began, its still off the road now! I also have an idle problem. It idles away, but if you listen, its not th eusual confident diesel sound, it goes up and down slightly, then randomly revs itself (rv counter stays where it is at 500 rpm) and I have no idea why! driving it was ok before the starter went and CKP sensor, so I shoudl fit a new ckp this weekend and maybe change fuel filter and se if it runs any better, buti think mine idles too low.

good luck, they are really nice trucks when they are working, i miss driving mine!

done the above and with a little help from a friend, we think the inlet manifold gasket is leaking, blasted wd40 all over that side of the engine and it ticks over all nice till the wd's burnt off, so next tuesday its going in to be sorted, HOPEFULLY
really nice thing to drive though, although being a petrol, not the most practcal of things i must admit, but atleast it will pull my caravan
thanks for all the advice and tips and i will let you know how it pans out,
all the best for now,
craig
