Default Inclinomters

Hi All

Anyone installed an inclinometer in their 4x4? Are they good or a waste of space???

Any opinions most welcome.

Regards
Lee

Haven't decide which way I'm leaning on this one yet....

sorry.

Personally I wouldn't bother - if you are keeled over far enough to be worried about whether your at 41 degrees or 43 degrees, somehow I don't think its the inclinometer you'd be looking at - more likely the way ahead or that spreading wet patch on your seat! LMAO!

Yep , I agree . Had them on a couple of motors and your butt cheeks are a far better indicator of how far over you are

Actually I remember years ago my dad, who's spent a lifetime building microlights and gyroplanes, was trying to get me interested in maths so he got hold of an aircraft altimeter and made me plot the altitude reading every tenth of a mile while he drove 50 miles to the airfield and then graph the results while he buggered off flying - have to say it worked....my maths teacher thought I'd been touched by the hand of god or something!

From memory my cheap little Garmin e-Trex also gives you altitude readings because of course its showing a true GPS reading, i.e. in three dimensions as opposed to the 2-D reading that standard satnav gives you....

That's the one I've got, and I fitted it pretty much the same way. Common sense is better off road, but it's great fun putting the Mav 'virtually' on it's side through fast corners/roundabouts...

I take it that its just a gravity thing then, so acts as a G-meter at speed in a turn?

That's right - I'm pretty sure they're just a swinging lead weight inside...
