Looking for a laptop holder for the mav

Been looking for a holder for the laptop in the mav while playing with MM, BEEN LOOKING AT THIS..

Not looking at paying that sort of money, so quick question! anyone sen anything like this I can use cheaper?

Hi Paul as you don't have a passenger air bag you could make up a bracket/pod to hold the laptop in the flat part of the dash above the passenger grab handle

Ive knocked one up recently albeit roughly and plan to use it Greenlaning this Saturday.
I'll take a pic or two tomorrow just to give you an idea.

Why dont you modify a camera tripod and a bit of alu from the the blacksmiths>?

I believe Dinky does this, though forgot to look at his install when out laning last year, doh!

how big is the lappy, screen size that is, a small netbook type could maybe with a custom
bracket even sit on top of middle of dash, subject to old bill not considering you are losing
forward vision?

Paul 1 Piece of mdf cut to shape of recess above glovebox plus 50mm to cover grab handle, 2 piece of 25mm same lenth of grab handle.Place 2 on top of grabhandle ,lay 1 in recess and mark where they touch,either screw or glue together.Drill 4 holes so that tie wraps can hold bracket to grabhandle.2large rubber bands around the mdf to hold lappy and thats it.Dont forget a charger working off 12 v cos battery dont last long also gps reciever.

i've got a fishing tray with metal gauze on bottom that will let lap top keep cool, then fit tray to lamp arms (weld it) and find somewhere to fit lamp clamp.

Being a computer techie, I hope you laptop has a solid state hard drive or some very good air bag technology on the HDD otherwise bouncing it around off road you might find you go through hard drives for the fun of it.

On a lighter note I have a catalogue at work with storage devices like this, I will get the name of the company tomorrow and post it up for you.

Thanks Neil, was thinking about something like that, but as with the one on ebay like the idea of being able to also use it to hold a camcorder.

The hard part would be fix a tripod to the floor and still have room for your feet to move around.

Was on sale at Asda for only £250 at Xmas, it's quite big thats why we are looking to be able to keep it low and move it sideways if you know what I mean.

Universal ones are only about £14, some inverters are no good ith electronics too so be careful. They don't produce a proper sine wave, at best you get naty buzzing but you can do damage to sensetive stuff too.

My laptop is getting hidden in the back of the dash with a touchscreen to operate it from over the std stereo.
