Lost supension?
Just looking for a bit of advice here guys.
As some of you will know I'm upgrading my suspension setup and bought a setup from Aus. This was sent out in June and without looking properly for exact dates, it was due to be delivered on the 5th July. Tnt were sending it and time passed with it no-where to be seen. As it turned out tnt had no idea both at this end and at Aus end where the hell this was. No idea at all and this was Aus company hounding them. They told me if it wasn't accounted for by 30 days they would get insurance as I paid for insurance luckily. Company put in a claim for missing freight and set about getting me a new updated and upgraded setup and posted that out for me. Just as they sent it guess what turns up out the blue: original order and now tax bill for it. Can I refuse to pay that tax on the grounds that it was lost, (they can take it away and destroy it for all I care) as I'm not wanting to pay 2 lots of tax bills? Regards Martin |

I know what you are saying but there is not a lot of hope that this would ever sell on quickly as its far too expensive and fairly limited to an early 2.8 Patrol.

I don't know about dealing with Aus, but it's normally the sellers reposibility to get the item to you in good condition, therefore their insurance should cover it. You shouldn't be paying for insurance..
I'm surprised that they didn't know it was with customs, customs can take ages with this sort of thing. Thirdly, I'd accept the first package and get fitted to the truck asap, then reject the second and ask for a refund of any monies paid.. |

I'd be very surprised if most of it doesn't fit any Y61 though bud, chassis is the same whatever the engine type, only thing that might be set up for a particular engine is the front spring strength (as 2.8 is 6 cylinder). The only other thing is that steering damper fitting is different on the later Y61s Bet money it would all fit a Y60 as well. So big question... what setup did you buy? |

I agree with yourself Rob. I think first should go back with tnt fitting bill. I wonder if tax doesn't get paid it either gets destroyed at dock, or gets sent back to sender.
When I get this weekend's work out the way I will phone to see what we can do. It should go back. Now I have a final spec I will post up setup when I get a chance in my build thread as I can't remember it all off hand lol Terrible state of affairs with tnt though! I also have someone potentially waiting on my pedders setup which is taking far to long for them to be comfortable |

I buy a few electronic modules and components from the far east, and have never paid a penny in import duties. I guess the sales price is below the threshold to trigger import duties. If I need say 5+ items, I would place 5 orders, from more than one company if appropriate. I would never buy directly from the far east anything mains powered. You would be the first importer into Europe, and responsible for it's safety. Many CE marked items on Ebay are not fully compliant, and do not have the appropriate certificate of conformity. Buyer beware... Rustic

Yes I follow you there Rustic, odd stuff of low value has been no problem, seems to me that above about £50/£75 mark they start to take interest and whack on a surcharge, robbing munsters, Rick

I've had a couple of items where the Customs 'Handeling' bill has been bigger than the Tax bill... Everybody want their bit!
If the bill isn't paid, it hets returned to sender... You may get a refund for the goods, but maybe not any shipping the seller has incured. (There & Back) |
