Default May Flies

There's a small river quite close to me & every summer I watch the May Flies from off the bridge whilst out with Monkey Dog.

I noticed something quite unusual this year that I hadn't before............
On each side of the bridge the Flies are different colours, blue on the western side & green on the eastern side.
I've tried to research the reason, but I don't find any answers

I thought that too. So I tried looking from another direction.

May flies come in a whole range of different colours but the blue ones are the ones that catch your eye.

Was you hoping for some pics? I have tried, but they don't let you get close enough & even with the 8X zoom I can't get a good shot with enough detail, they just blend in with the plants.
