broke the motor today
Yep fried it, hooked up the tin tent ready for the off tomorrow morning, silly me decided to plug in the 12s plug, and switched the switch to car but nothing happened so put it back to van, pulled the outfit forward to straighten it up to set the new mirrors, turned the engine off but decided that I should reverse a little to reconnect the 240 lead to keep the fridge on over night to chill it down, but what is this? ignition on but no dash lights, engine turns but no start, checked all the fuses relays etc, nothing, so if I cannot sort it quickly in the morning looks like will be taking the Mrs motor, but not sure if they will accept a registration change as we have passes with my number on it, , happy days Rick

Somekind of fuseable link maybe, im sure you know the things but they are like a master fuse. Look like a plastic plug often with a clear lid.

You could try taking the V5 for each vehicle, as proof of ownership and same address, if all else fails.
Car breakdowns do happen. I cannot imagine under what circumstances this failure could have happened. Good luck. Rustic

Changing the switch only swaps the caravan from taking its 12v feed from the van battery to the 12s socket, e.g. the car battery, so if the caravan battery is low, you can use power from the car instead.
Connecting the 12s socket, connects all the high current bits up, so I would hazard a guess that you need to be looking for where the feed for the split charger etc is taken from. Most times they take it straight from the battery via an inline fuse. Other than that, it sounds like a bad coincidence. Sent from my SM-T705 using Tapatalk |

Well as you can all guess it was a very hectic day Friday, first thing I did was to try and phone the organizers to see id a change of motor would be a problem, engaged on every call so left a message then as time went on noticed they had tried to call me but as I had had a dental check up Thursday pm I had turned my ringer off , so kept trying to ring them and finally got through, no a change of vehicle will not be a problem, so continued to load up Maggs car for the trip, mine still being dead, got away an hour later than planned at noon, then got flagged by my mate following that I have no stop lights, had a quick look but nothing obvious and I saw them working with my motor connected so on Thursday, so had to be either the new 13 way to 12n/12s lead or the Mrs car socket, but as my mate was following and he is now aware we decided to press on and fix it later, just as well as a good few miles from Dartford Tunnel we started to crawl, suffice to say arrived at the site at 4pm, got set up and partly sorted the stuff that had been hastily transfered from my motor went for a meal at the close by Toby, (will not go there again) came back and got pissed with me mate sat outside with a wood burner with an 8ft chimney, this morning realised I had forgotten the inverter and a few leads so it is only now that I have managed to charge the lappy and tablet and phone, and be able to get on line Rick
