Newbie sullied by the ravages of time!
Ow do there! I'm Crow and i'm from Cambridge way, got miself a Terrano 2.7 97 Manual back in November. Absolutely love it other than the fact it has been off the road since 28th November when i get recovered back from London. Head gasket as i though but then discovered two cracks in the head, cue top end rebuild by a "Friend" who is ex AA. It has gone from bad to worse, having to take the Garage near Haverhill to court over it as they would not respond, the fella i got to do the job doing nothing when he said he would (getting the head tested so i can build the case against them, rebuilding the starter, having it done by christmas, etc.......), so i sacked him off after he rebuilt the starter eventually and then promptly burnt it out completely with cranking it over too much (voltage drop, amp increase!). My partner asked him what had caused it to burn out, to which he said "well, i dunno!" (Kt knew full well what causes it to die .
So here i am with a hat full of fault codes and hope diminishing with the midwinter daylight................ A night in with t'laptop it is then.... Thank you for letting me join yer wonderful group, sorry for not posting a pic of Terrano-sore-arse, i just can't bare to she her sooooooooo sad! May yer Diesel be bug-less and yer filters flow freely, Crow |

Cheers it was good fun doing the project. Been driving it today and have to say it's a great truck but I really need to make space so it'll have to go.
Have you checked out the downloads section in quick links? So cool stuff there. Good luck with ya motor and don't give up you'll get there. |

I bought it off Greedbay from a Garage that had it in as a PX, at what i thought was a very good price. Got really let down on transport to go and see before i bid but thought i would go for it anyway. The seller offered delivery fer 20 squids, job done....... So had a couple of short runs , thought that it was tickety boo, until i had a gig in Tottenham to be at. Did the run down there, thought it wasn't right that the Temperature Gauge wasn't climbing (you know what's coming next......), WHOOOOOOSH!!!!! Up it went, get recovery back to here and find the Thermostat is cranked wide open, had a massive overheat and it would seem there is no Glycol in the coolant loop (Taste test) which would indicate the lump had been topped up on a regular basis. So i thought the Head Gasket had gone, of course it had, and then running the feelers about and wet and drying it, find two cracks as well......... Seller won't communicate and i have paid out for a new head, Gasket set, Starter Motor etc...... And now trying to put together Terrano-Sore-Arse after the previous mechanic took things apart in not the most logical of ways....... Got help from another mate, wish i had asked him in the first place, so now sorting through the codes i have extracted until the Beast is fixed. Won't ignite yet so it's all down to.........
13 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (probably cooked, gonna test in the morning) 28 Cooling Fan Circuit (same again, see what the multimeter says) 37 Knock Sensor (test in morning, i hope that isn't ill) And for a full house 42 Fuel Temp Sensor (test and weep gently depending on outcome) |
