Default So close, yet so far!! 4.2 patrol

Saw this sat on a forecourt this morning, pulled in to ask about it, "sorry mate belongs to mechanic".
It's done 8k, that's eight thousand miles!!!!
Bench seats that go in boot are still in original plastic, so is the grease gun that comes with vehicle, 4.2 manual, this picture does not do it justice, it looks like new inside and out!

He deffo seemed nervous, never seen a mechanic wear Kevlar

He told me he has the tyres he bought it with in the garage, presumably the o/e ones, replaced them 'cos they had started to crack a little!

That is lovely, wonder what that would be worth... Limited market if it was for sale ( i assume its diesel 4.2 ).. Alot of people are scared of the 4.2 and think they will cost a fortune to run so would be put off not realising how economical they are... That would be a great buy..

Yup 4.2 diesel, manual too, said he bought it with 3k on clock!! I wouldn't have believed him but it was like new inside!
I know nothing of the 4.2 straight six, are they ok on fuel then?

all the ones ive owned were brilliant on fuel, only started using fuel once turboed and big tyres... if I could have found one like that I would keep it forever, I cant say enough good things about the y60, in my opinion the greatest truck EVER produced, a real square purposeful easy to repair truck, how they should be.. just a shame there isn't more around now.. I would swap my y61 for a good y60 4.2, it would have to be bloody good though cos I love my y61 too.
