Just had next door but one round. They had a friend visit with a 4x4 and within 15 minutes two men had used a chain cutter and nicked his catalytic converter. Had five Police cars and one dog unit arrive. Apparently they pick a village and start nicking. They got disturbed when the lady of the house came out to put some stuff in the bin and noticed the interior light, went and got her friend, but they had ran off. It didn't help that he left his keys, bag and wallet in the vehicle, lucky for him they didn't get the chance to nick those as well. 4x4 was only 15ft off the road and 8ft in front of the living room window with the blinds open.

Checked my T2, then realised that it didn't have a cat :lol

I guess this is where under body clearance works against us.:doh
It would be difficult to crawl under a BMW saloon..!!

Price of metal must be going up again then, loads of cats get stolen as they have platinum inside them:eek: good thing about the T2's no cats fitted:thumb2

They'd have a nasty shock if they crawled under mine, apart from catching Ebola, the lack of exhaust all together would get em :lol

I recovered a new Fiat ducato today and I noticed there was a length of security cable wrapped around the exhaust from the downpipe all the way to the middle section. 1st time I've seen that. Have recovered quite a few sprinters with missing cats..

These cats must be sold on, so assuming they are scrap dealers, what are the scrap dealers doing to check if these are legitimate?
What ID are the scrap dealers checking? I thought they had tightened this up!

Ok car dismantlers handle these by their hundred, but I doubt these would be neatly cut with a chain, more likely oxyacetlyene, obvious when selling them on...:augie

Yes true, I imagine it would be obvious, perhaps sold from dodgy individual to another, a "black market" if you like :nenau

Have you heard about the other "internet" where you can buy literally anything

Oh I might go and remove mine before someone else does.
I sold the two form my audi A6 v6 and got £120 for the pair, I think I could've done better :nenau
