How on earth did the LR end up in that hole as from the pic's it looked clearly visible rear recovery looked the only option to get it out

A hole had been excavated about 3ft deep and was full of water, the landrover expert told me that he drove around the puddle but the side caved and you can see the rest.

Forward recovery was achieved by a 5.7L V8 bobtailed Range Rover and a hefty front winch.

it was entertaining to watch from a distance.

He got a bit Miffed one day when me and a few mates were doing the same route as he was and he kept trying to loose us. in the end he pulled into a pub car park, waited till we had passed and then went the other way.

Apparently the tyre track that can be seen at the rear was where his front right started out.

Yep!

But - I'm still laughing

Oh and when he said try a "Snatch pull" I said is it up to it, meaning his strop, he said yeah I've pulled a 38T truck with it.

You can see the remainder of it hanging from the front of the Troll..

The middle shackle missed his light by 2" and now he needs a new front pannel too.
