First of all I would like to say thanks to Rbrt for the information on who did it first, Shark1e for telling me what he used, Last but not least Mav for inserting the pictures for me.
Tools used:
2 Dash light bulb holders, (I used those but sidelight bulb holders will do)
2mm wire,
2 Eyelet connectors,
2 snap locks,
Drill bits up to 13mm,
Needle file,
Junior hacksaw blade.
Soldering iron.
First job is to measure down from the main bulb holder about 1.5 cm, this gives you your approx centre line along the lamp, then run a line from the middle of the main bulb holder, then drill up to your size of b/holder, then with the junior hacksaw blade cut outward a few mm then use a needle file to open it up for the locking pins to fit inside the lamp.
Next job is to solder the wires onto the bulb holders (if using sidelight b/holders you can just use spade connectors) I filed out the plastic that is under the two copper connection point soldered the wire to them then bent the points down the side of the holders, cut one length of wire for the earth and using a eyelet connector to go to one of the bolts that holds the lamp in place.
After replacing the lamps run the of side feed wire to the near side where you use the snap locks to the cable that feeds the trailer socket, Brown for the R/H tail lamp, black for the L/H tail lamp.
Here are some pictures showing the affect of the lights now with the tail lights in.
