Towing mirrors
Hi there
Have bought a caravan at last and need to buy some towing mirrors for my Mistral. I've been told to buy those that fit to the wings. Anybody got any advice. cabtone |

I use the ones that clip on the terrano mirrors, as long as you can see down the side of the van, suppose it depends how wide your van is. regards......bri

I pull a swift challenger and the Mistral mirrors are ok , I tried the ones that fit to the mirrors, but I like the Mistral mirrors better.

The elastic band fixings are at a bit of a stretch on the Mistral mirror but I recently bought a Raydot version which just stretches - try before you buy if possible. They should have an E11 stamp on them.
Caravan Club had a recent article about "the law" on mirrors a bit confusing - local dealer said it was wrong! , try their advise. I think if you are going over the Channel you need to have them comply with EU standards |

I'm pretty sure there is regulations saying that you have to have at least one if not both towing mirrors fitted.

wing mounted mirrors are certainly illegal abroad.
something about having to be adjustable from the cab. understand law is that need offside and if cant see using internal rear view then near side too. also you need to see sides of trailer so standard mirrors will not do unless trailer is no wider than towing vehicle. I use large long elastic type strap ons and whilst better than the cars are still not as good as i would like. extra mirrors cannot stick out more than 8 inches than the trailer and must be removed when solo.
