Default WANTED - 8000lb winch/ 2" maverick lift springs

As per title, looking for a winch, some lift springs and any off road parts you may have!

So who has what and wants to sell to me?

8000 lb odd size innit ?
You'd be better off getting a 12,000lb jobbie and have the capacity you will need one day

Myate had a 8000lb winch on his terrano and that was great and pulled him out of deep mud. Also unless you spend daft mobey the 12,000lb winch is very slow.

Not had a chance to test speeds but interesting point. Do you know if they have different gear box ratios ?
It's when the old girl gets bogged in to the wet stuff, ie stuck 'cause of suction liquid contact etc.
Going to look at gearing now

I was actually chatting to a few guys about the higher pull winches. Think they normally use the same motors but use gearing to get the greater pull. But then they are slower.

Interesting, but why is the loading reduced then? Surely it's just the speed that differs not the strength of the motor, or have I missed something?
If so I'll get a 6000lb gear box on my 120000 winch hmmmm

It's all gearing isn't it butt, The 12,000 ones can pull more just a little bit slower.

I don't know how low it can go before the motors change etc.

But if you look alot of 12,000lb and 10,000lb have the same sort of size motor.

Think the 2 speed ones have fast for spooling the winch back up. Not for recovery.

Your better off with something like a warn 8274 twin motor jobbie. Gets expensive though.

Yeah the gear ratio are different. how different im unsure. was just reading some spec kind of spec sheet. its all a wee bit to technical for me.

On a seperate note i think my fuel tank is half full of muddy water and engine wont start now.

Leave it stand overnight then drain off the crap till you get diesel again
Then do the filter change,probably worth taking the injectors out too just incase you have real water up front Not good for pistons

even worse for injectors and pump, essential to get water out asap, if rust starts it is death for the pump and injectors, as makitfit says drain the water, remove filter and hand pump till fuel comes out, fit new filter crack inlet banjo to pump, then hand pump till fuel arives, no need to remove injectors just crack of the pipe nuts and crank till fuel arives (I think it is easier to remove rocker cover and over adjust exhaust tappets to stop compression to save load on battery and starter) you may want a spare battery in any event, once you get it running take it for a good run to boil any residue water from the system, if it is a tdi then 50 miles minimum water/corosion on the internal electrics happens very quick, cost me over £1000.00 for a new pump on a Range Rover I had and only went from Bexhill to London with fuel contaminated with water (filled up at start of journey) stopped dead just short of Blackwall tunnel, AA transported it home took 3 weeks to get it sorted local Rover pratts could not sort it so did it myself in the end (fitted new pump) but still had to put it on Rovers computer to set it up, soon got shot I can tell you, Rick

Thanks for advice guys! Its the older td engine. no not been wading at all? I honestly havent a clue how i got there? If i have been in any water its very rarely come up over bonnet?

sounds like you picked it up from a fuel station some place then, not unknown, whatever you need to get shot of the wet stuff ASAP, Rick

Got a phonecall off my brother today who is fixing my truck. hes had engine working from a pipe ina jerry can. said engine sounded sweet and there was no issues with fuel pump either!

He's going to drain tank and fuel lines tomorrow hopefully, change fuel filter and hopefully will be good to go!
