Talking maths test

Note: This must be done in your head only. Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator.

Take 1000
and add 40.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 30.
Add another 1000.
Now add 20.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 10.

What is the total?

because of the thousands and the sequence they are in the brain adds the tens as 100's instead on 10's its an optical thing tod woith the way your brain percieves what it sees

I got 2100, and still got the same when I used a calculator.

Take 1000 = -1000
and add 40. = -960
Now add another 1000. = 40
Now add 30. =70
Add another 1000. =1070
Now add 20. =1090
Now add another 1000. =2090
Now add 10. =2100

Have I gone wrong somewhere?

Briggie you would make a great Chancellor, the government have been doing this for years, it's just that we have let them get away with it.

Well I got 4100,

You can fool some of the people all of the time.
You can fool all of the people some of the time.
You can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Maybe the Goverment are challenging the last statement...... They call it Tax.
I know a few that are fooled all of the time.
