could this not be part of your occasional series in radio matters
and be better placed in ice/cb/section can you do a piece on how position of twigg effects signal footprint , ie alters ground plane with ref to truck? oh and please a lay mans guide to swr optimising.

do you know if these pmr sets work on cb, or if can get really compact hand held
cb even if short range. recall hand held cbs of yor made brick style mobile phones look compact.

pmr will not work on cb frequencies ... Cb is 27 megs ... Pmr is 446 megs .... However some ham radio sets will be able to operate on pmr frequencies even though they have ctcs

fair enough,
had a little browse on ebay found som neat looking handhelds like midland 42 and intek h512/520 models, look like a chunky mobile nt much bigger than pmr types. hmm, at £100 or so question is get one to pair with cb in car, or set of pmrs for less

Have a look at the chineese handheld radios. Perfect for the user of pmr446 who wants more power.
They are great value for money. They are also soon brining out mobile radios that will have the required 6.25k step and will be able to do pmr446. |

pair of cheap pmr radios here with a alleged 10km range ,.... personally i doubt that very much in practise ...... more like a mile tops , but the rechargable batteries have gotta be worth the price of the sets lol
