Got to admit I wasn’t 100% sure this was going to take place so forgot about it until my son rushed downstairs to tell us. I do have relatives working for the nhs and a good friend, needless to say they all got a text with clapping hands.

Us on the outside of the frontline do not know the half of it.

Well one nhs

I was surprised the folks of Sevenoaks did it, most of them are very up their selves, but we went out and heard them.

I have to say that this Welsh Farmer did it the best though..

Exclamation After the wifes three double shifts - I missed the moment.

Wendy is a GP Receptionist she has been for the last 5 years after retiring from Reception work at the Derby Royal where she had been for about 5 years after giving up decades of Secretarial type work / facilities management in the private business sector. She has reduced her hours & now works part time - four 5 hour shifts i.e.20 hrs a week.

This week her only day off was Monday the rest of the week it was double shifts - she arrives home almost unable to speak due to being on the phone or dealing with patients all day. This is week three - she was due to retire at the end of May. She has already been asked to stay on during the crisis, after its all over she has been asked to provide bank cover of two shifts a week.

She has worked full time since she left school at 16 yrs old working for various organisations and is now in her 50th year of working - full time until about 18 months ago.

She would have retired at 60 but HMG have moved her retirement date twice so its now October 2020. I know she finds work very emotionally rewarding though the wages are almost half of what she earnt 10 years ago.

I am very proud of her work ethic but when this is all over I think she will pay the price. She originally wanted to have time off in lieu rather than payment but as this is not possible they are paying her instead.

I have self isolated due to my own health, to minimise contact, I am finding being on my own for such long hours difficult. Thank goodness for the decent weather over the last couple of days. Yesterday I started Jet Washing the drive - oh my what a dirty job that is.lol
