Found rust issue on roof gutter and rear door
Hi All,
Sorry _ I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this....Ive found this on a roof gutter at the rear of a potential new to be acquired Y60 Patrol. Does this this like a real (& costly problem) and whatAttachment 11999 would be the cost to fix if at all possible? Under £700 or could this be a DIY job with a grinder and rust proofing? Thanks for any advice. |

Not a structural issue, I would sand blast it and paint it to stop it getting worse, grinding and wire brushing is useless, Rick

if you have access to a compressor a cheap sand blasting gun and dry floor stone gap filling sand like used to put between block paving will do the job.just protect any areas you do not want to blast with steel sheet or thick cardboard.then a zink primer to protect bare metal.

Not many body shops will sand blast, it would only take 20 mins for a small job like that then paint immediately before flash rusting starts, if you buy my bumper and come to collect it I will blast it for you for £50 including masking up and a first coat of primer, Rick

at the layland dealership i was the bodyshop under manager we used to sandblast all repairs befor repair as the only way to get into the tiny places, remember the mini a frames, then a dioxen wash to leave a phrosphate coat then zink primer befor repair.but as rick says finding someone now will be looking for a golden egg so his offer is great and he wont make much money per hr doing that.
