I have never owned a automatic and only ever driven one briefly but very nearly brought a automatic Mercedes ML320 4x4 the other day. I was kind of looking forward to giving one a go.

I bought the project terrano and only realised it was auto when it was too late but I bought it to strip for parts. Once we got it home myself and my son decided to do it as a project. Wasn't sure if we were going to keep it at that stage but once I drove it around I knew I loved the automatic. Wishing the 3litre was auto now lol

I drive a manual works van around the Isle of Wight all day. Typical island driving I am up and down the gearbox constantly. So the idea of trying a automatic for my own car was appealing.
Would not want to give up a manual completely but the girlfriends car and the works van will take care of that.
