Default Boot storage & other storage ideas

The question gets asked from time to time so thought i'd start a thread on it for options to be discussed & a place for any links to builds people have done. I thought in here might be a good place for it but if not Mods please feel free to move it to a better place on the forum
Once we get a caravan & I know what gear & how much i'll be carrying I might start doing a raise platform with storage in my T2
Here's some links to builds i've found first one is for mainly T2's the others will be for other makes & models of 4x4's but ideas can be taken from them

I will add more as I come across them

Oooh! I'm seriously interested in this as I'm half baking a conversion myself and looking to have a temporary bed inside.
Currently I have an awning with a tent like this:

On the storage side I can see some of these fitting:

http://vangadgets.co.uk/wooden-van-f...rawer-kits.htm
And a mate of mine makes stuff like this:

http://www.aluboxpro.com/imagenes/ over in Spain and i'm trying to get him to sort out some decent prices to see if we can do something in the UK.

Time to get lost in that first link Sweety, looking for ideas...

EDIT: Just found another http://overlandsphere.com/overland-t...-camper/136057

I'm currently in the process of designing some storage units that fit at the side of the third seats.
I still use the seats so has to be something that will still allow me to use them.
I will post some pics when I start to fabricate them.

Sounds interesting are you thinking of just storage like bins either side ? you could prob add a couple of draws by the back door to hold spaners, screw drivers, sockets etc bit like a mini tool chest The 3rd row seat mounting points would be a good place to secure it at the front & maybe a bracket going to the rear tie down bolts to secure it at the rear

ref carrying caravan stuff, i like it all in caravan than bouncing round in truck,
ok tied down...

like to think truck is for people, kids and dogs, maybe pram but some carry
awning in their car, to reduce weight of caravan an increase weight of car.

Ours has to all go in the caravan, by the time you have 14 ferrets, 50Kg's of litter, my tool box, 40litres of petrol, and the generator in the back, it's too full for any of the caravan bits.

Not sure how I will do the storage areas yet.
So far I have made a box to cover the arches to give me a flat surface to work on.

guessing was on the mk3, as per my mk4 we lost the internal door release.
bit of a backward step from safety point of view.

I have 2 built in drawers in my SWB T2 commercial conversion, right behind the front seats.
Bottom one divided in 2 parts, holds car stuff (leads, tow rope, ...) on the left and shooting stuff (gloves, knives, scales, ammo, face mask, game carrier straps,...) on the right.
Top one is padded, big enough to hold 2 guns.

Dog fence between the drawers and the roof of the car, on top of drawers between dog fence and top part of front seats is place for coats etc.
Some more place available under the drawers, in what would be the rear seat foot well if I had rear seats.
Pictures here, still without dog fence.

Always found the cavity under the stored 3rd row handy for my straps and bits. Can then drop seats and leave stuff in place though suppose kids lose some foot room.
