cassette tapes
was in the loft today getting a set of car speakers down and found a huge box of cassette tapes, a lot of them were radio shows that were recorded off the radio like from the 70s lol,100s of of them. it's amazing what you find when you dig hard enough

Yeah...I'll go along with that, Except the being born in the 90's bit..Mid 60's for me (God I feel old now lol).....mind you, If you click the "Random" button in the middle there's weirder cartoons than the Tapes one.

i've still got a bush radio/tv/alarm clock, from about 1981, used it every day for about 15 years, about a 4" b&w screen, could run on batteries or mains.

yeah, or you can modify the tape slot, all you need to do is get an angle grinder and cut a slot big enough for the cd to fit in, then it should work fine, companys made cd players to make people buy them, spend more money, thay DO NOT want people knowing tape players can be modifyed to do the same job
