Oh ecky thump
The route for the Tour De Yorkshire has been released today and the flipping thing is coming through the area that I live, at one point about a mile from my house. It's going to mean being hemmed in for a day Grumble grumble grumble, I don't even like bikes Looks like a weekend away camping darn sarf to get away from it |

Fancy a house swap for the day?
We should be embracing these activities and not bemoaning them, grumpypants! We all do things that inconvenience others, or that others disapprove of. |

Someone I know lives right on the route, he will be made. He can spend the day in his front garden cheering them on or whatever you do

Just had a look at the route. I don't think it'll affect me much, but we'll see come April.

Well I thought I'd go and then I can say that I know I don't like it.
Change of heart. Really good atmosphere and although blink and you miss them I was fascinated by all the support motorbikes and cars, would love to see more about the radio comms. Got home and then stuck ITV4+1 on the tv and saw myself Nice to see some of the local area on tv. The bikes didn't do much for me though. |

I genuinely don't understand the anti-cycling rhetoric that we get in this country. |

And, of course, a big thumbs up to the people of Yorkshire who were out there supporting. Doing the country proud.

Cyclists, theres good and bad in every walk of life. If you get stuck behind some cyclist with the wrong attitude it causes the bad feeling you mentioned but this post isn't about those. The bikes in the race, they're just blokes on bikes that pass in seconds and it's finished. Liked the support vehicles far better, there was a light aircraft circling overhead at around the cloud base so really wasn't tv cameras. My guess is that he was a communications repeater, looked on Flight Radar and sure enough he circled the whole route all day long. I found the technical things far more interesting.
I have to say though out of all the major sports I think that those guys have to be extremely fit and they deserve respect for that alone. Not sure I could say the same about some of these over paid footballers. |

People definitely came out in the thousands. Even the french chappie that has something to do with the running of the tour de france made a statement to the effect of being impressed and in some places more spectators than the Tour de France.

I drive some of the route everyday & I was dreading it's arrival. Then as we drew closer to the day & the signs where dated for the 30th
I don't work the weekends or bank holidays so that'll do for me Glad you enjoyed part of the day Jim We have quite a few events here & I just keep away............ They don't venture into the fields where I like to go I have nothing against cyclist & give them the respect that I give any other road users unless they p me off then I can be as awkward as possible as I will with everyone. Red light jumpers, riding in a massive bunch that takes up all the road that you can't get passed or just riding like an idiot. I see idiots everyday on the road & they use all manner of vehicles |
