Looking to hire KA24E expert for swap
Hi there I'm Ruben
Proud owner of a LHD London Taxi (Fairway Driver model) You might know that these cabs came from the factory with stock Nissan TD27 diesel (but without the turbo) mated to a Nissan 5 speed manual gearbox. Long story short, the country I wish to export this car to does not allow classic cars with a diesel engine, only petrol. My taxi is currently located in West Yorkshire, I don't care where you are. If you're a KA24E EXPERT (!) I'll have the car delivered to you. At the same time I'll have a Terrano Petrol with a good KA24E engine delivered to you as well so that the swap is easier with a running engine, as well as ECU and harness. This cab is currently fully stock. If you're up for it, or know of an expert who is, drop me a line, I'd be happy to be in touch with them. Cheers, Ruben |

Hi I used to run a KA 24 and got to know them pretty well, it will have to be a complete engine and gearbox swap, now as I doubt the London Taxi was 4 wheel drive (I have no knowledge of them) and I am fearful that there will not be room for the transfer box in the Taxi, the 2.7 box will not graft onto the KA 24, and yes the KA 24 had an ECU so indeed the whole loom will be needed, some task you have set yourself, a few years ago I would had a go but not now sorry, best of luck Rick

Bellhousing question
Hi there Solarman
Thank you kindly for your reply. The london cab is RWD, and I was thinking to remove the bellhousing of the TD27 diesel, and fit the bellhousing of the KA24E onto it. (My TD27 FS5W71C RWD gearbox has 3000 kms on it, I'm not joking) Would you think a bellhousing change will be possible? Thank you kindly Ruben |

Not possible the bell housing is part of the main box, Rick

I'm no expert on the KA24 but you would be wanting a RWD gearbox from a Nissan road car or pickup to use the engine. I might be interested in the remains of the Terrano if you go ahead, what is it like?
Edit: Is the Taxi automatic? |

A lot of the cars I can think of that may have a suitable gearbox have ended up in the drifting community so would likely be subjected to hiked up prices from 'scene tax'.
