Warning!!!!!, Your wife will want one - Kitchen box for the motor

When we go out for the day I often like (need) a cuppa & for the last few years everything has just been put in a plastic storage box but it rattles when driving along & can be a bit of a pain to set up/pack away

also if we use our small 4 man dome tent instead of the big tunnel tent we can't use the kitchen unit I built

so set about making up a small kitchen box that would hold the stove, cups, kettle, tea & coffee etc & some water

should be able to secure it in the boot so it doesn't slide about to one of the tie down points using a bungee cord or a small cargo strap through the carrying handles I fitted on the box

It works out at a nice hight to use in our smaller tent aswell as we'll be still using the small tent even after getting a caravan but mainly on road trips

Very nice

I want to make a permanent fold down shelf on the rear door but not sure how I will do it yet.
Have got a couple of single burner stoves and loads of medical grade stainless sheet so I'm sure I can come up with something.

I have one of those stoves but find the gas doesnt last very long. Bought myself a jetboil a couple of years ago and love it to bits, seems to use a lot less gas too.

Do like your little unit though mate.

Just a cautionary note regarding those particular gas stoves, there are circumstances when using large based pans, that the heat is reflected downwards, and the gas cylinder can overheat with fatal consequences.
There have been many issues on boats, in tents and when used in the boot of cars.
The seal on the canister has also been known to leak, causing fireballs, so only use in a well ventilated area, well away from people and property.
In my opinion, they should be banned, together with chinese lanterns.

Yeah don't buy the cheapo ones.
Have got a couple of camping gaz ones that are well over 10 years old and still work perfect.
Only made for light weight cooking pans and kettles.

I've used one for ages on our boat for just the same light cooking, well kettle anyway

The heat will deflect down and around for sure but as I'm sure you're only kettle boiling it should be fine. However, please keep an eye on the left hand side bit of ply at the hinge point. I reckon that could get pretty hot, poss scorchio

Sweety posted a link to some photos of different storage ideas for the Terranos and someone did exactly that cut a hole in the tailgate inner trim and put a door on it.

That's what I was thinking

I want it to fold up as flush as possible.
Not much room when I've got the dog cage in the boot so don't want it hitting that.
Will see if I get chance to whip the rear door panel off over the weekend and have a gander.
