Think LazyFerret has one of them doesn't he. Seen a few pop up on here. They were an not sold in the UK not sure about France. Think they were sold across in Us, Australia, New Zealand and Japan mainly. Think it also went under the name Terrano (1).

R3mr ownership

On the plus side it was a nice ride and handling as they have rack and pinion steering and are coil spring suspension all round. Servicing parts were the same as the Maverick / Terrano except the air filter that I had to get from local Nissan dealer. Nice selectable options so you can run on RWD mode most of the time. I averaged 18-22 mpg except on a long run when it rose to 25-28 mpg. The speedometer was in MPH but the oddometer was in Km. On the down side the Insurance was pricey as it was an import as were some spares like the gearshift lever that I had to replace as it was broken when I bought it. If we could have bought a much newer one we would have but they are thin on the ground and often overpriced. We paid about £3,000 for ours in 2008 with 70k miles equivalent on clock with quite a bit of service history. We got £500 for her in 2013 from a used 4x4 dealer as a trade in. We sold her as the front wings were going very bubbly and they were over £450 each from Nissan plus it had a little bit of damage to a rear sill and wheelarch scuff. Decided it was not worth spending money on the bodywork. It never let us down mechanically and the Wife did 3 runs a year to France, it was the vehicle we went everywhere in. We averaged around 7,500 miles a year. We would have bought another one if they were available as a 2003/4 plate. We replaced her with a Santa Fe petrol subsequently replaced with a Grand Cherokee. The R3mr was the best out of these 3. |

Same set up as your terrano but possibly with coil springs instead of torsion bars.

That's a lot newer that my T1, which is an 86, mine has the spare wheel on a carrier on the back, different bumpers, and the cooling slots along the front of the bonnet. No Intercooler, and you can not get a towbar for mine.
Mine is an 86, and has torsion bar front suspension, so I would be surprised if they went to coil, and then back to torsion bar for the T2. They are lovely cars, but a lot of the bits are specific, so getting parts is proving difficult, unless you want to part with silly money to get the bits imported. The brakes are discs, all round, but with a miniature hub in the rear rotor for the handbrake. Lots of electric gubbins, which seem to carry on working into later life. Nice car, but I am not sure that it is a good car to get later into it's life, if you want it as a daily run around. Better if you want to keep it as a collectors vehicle and hardly ever drive it. |

It's sold now but I think it was a bit expensive and and I think parts would have been more difficult to find ,As Banshee said "better the devil you know" so if I get another It's gonna have to be another TII
