Default on the subject of power

Just had a look through the diary and since I started to move my batteries into the barn in early April, have not used the generator for battery charging since that time, indeed the chargers are still not wired up, we have been completely self sufficient for the last 4 months in electricity and hot water, we have a 60 gallon water cylinder at this moment in time is at 80 degree C top to bottom, we are producing around 16 Kwh per day but only use 8 to 10 the rest goes to charge the batteries for our usage when the sun is not out, but water is not as abundant as it usually is so have modified the ground pump timings from 3 hours per day to 1 hour off .5 hour on over a full 24 hour period and seems to be coping very well, rare that we have less than 4k Ltrs in store, till today we have been watering the grass with our stored water but now have installed a 100 Mtr 25mm MDPE pipe to take water from upstream, the difference in head is around 10 ft so got a good flow but need to reduce it quite a lot to keep pace with the trickle that the stream currently is, do not want to draw air as the pipe has lots of ups and downs, happy days, Rick

You are not wrong there and as I bought a large amount of oil in Nov 2020 for £0.28 per Ltr I scored big time Rick

Yes you did well there Rick.
I’m dreading this winter, much as I need the heating these days I’m going to keep the thermostat on lower. Got a pile of Kingspan here waiting for one of my sons to fit under the floorboards which will hopefully help. I think when our house was built a chimney was an option and due to the extension it’s not really practical to have one built.
I think there may well be a lot of unrest around the corner.
