If you are accident & claim free I think you would get fully comprehensive for that kind of money. For older folk the gap betweenTPF&T and Fully Comprehensive is usually quite small as the main risk/payout is to the third party. I assume you have tried the main search engines? Ted

You’re right Ted.
Rick, I’m paying £269 fully comp. Declared modifications and Response work also. Together Insurance Brokers I’ve gone through since owning 4x4s. Also try Modified 4x4 insurance UK 0800 6444406 |

I'm with NFU and they are not the cheapest but lots of extras as standard
Last August 2019 I paid £332 for fully comprehensive on Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD that includes UK breakdown cover & home start Zero Excess, Courtesy Car, Commuting etc. Still a little short of full NCB due to claim in 2015 when Hyundai was written off.
When I renewed there were loads around the £260-£300 mark but stayed with NFU. With NFU you get a loyalty discount that builds. |

There are so many different variables with each person for each different company so it’s very difficult to make comparisons. Even the age of the vehicle can bump up the premium as well as the obvious like customer history and address. I used get really upset when people posted their prices on here because mine was through the flippin roof in comparison. Totally agree that the difference between fully comp can be negligible too. Capping the mileage can make a difference too.
I don’t think that’s bad Rick in fairness. |

Thanks for all the replies, but on looking at the renewal info included was a loan car but do not need this so deleted it, now it is £289, cannot be bothered with all the fuss of changing, so will stick with my current provider, Rick

Twist to the tail
Well a new unexpected development, I am getting the Mrs a newer motor a 3ltr so thought changing the insurance would be no problem, how wrong I was, started this saga on Saturday as want to pick it up over next weekend, so today had a call saying her current provider will not insure the new motor ??????? and then proceed to quote me over £500 for a year, stopped the conversation there and then saying we will go elsewhere.
Ended up contacting my insurer to see what they had to offer, upshot is now both motors with them for £631 for a year, needless to say old insurance cancelled and await a refund, but bet it will not be the £191 that they said would be offset against the new £500 policy, scamming barstuards is all I can say, Rick

Taxing new motor AGGGGGG
Never had this problem before, always collected purchases on the trailer, so picking motor up over the coming W/E, got insurance starting 1 st no problem but tax, seems if I do it now it has to start 1st Jan (no effin way) so will have to do it Sat am, will it work online on a Saturday, time will tell, similarly I cannot SORN the wifes motor till Friday after 4 when she will last use it, not waiting till Sat am or the may not credit Febs tax, since the demise of the tax disk the system is clearly broken, apparently more vehicles are running around un-taxed than ever they were with the disc system, Rick

Just look out for the covert ANPR's there are loads in Derby
The DVLA are very good at applying fixed penalty fines on law abiding folk who have the vehicle registered in their name but do little to chase up vehicles where the registered keep record is false or none existent.
In Derby they have cameras on the top of poles at T junctions - local rat runs etc. they earn a small fortune but its dwarfed by the earnings from "no stopping to drop off passengers" outside the Railway Station and on London Road outside the INTU Centre. There's a new one on Gower Street! My mate got caught at 9.00 pm on a Sunday dropping of his Grandson on Gower Street - there was barely a parked vehicle on the street but CCTV got him. |

Ongoing re insurance sager
After my little chat with old provider and telling them I will go elsewhere, when they quoted £500 for a year, following that up with an Email on the 28th asking for insurance to be terminated on the 31st. had a phone call today to say insurance terminated and that I would get £130 back, a bit different from the £191 I was told would be refunded to be put towards the new £500 policy, told her I was not happy with that, to be told that there was a £30 cancellation fee as well as their admin charges, I said that would all have been the same if I went ahead with the new policy plus they would get a new policy fee etc, but she was having none of it so I told her that this company were scamming whatsits and would never deal with them again, = £180 for just over 2 months cover, only renewed mid Nov, utter scam.
Then this afternoon got a confirmation re cancellation and that it was cancelled on the 28th, in spite of my cancellation Email saying 31st so yesterday my wife drove uninsured unknowingly, incompetent barstuards is my only comment plus scammers, who is this company, ADRIAN FLUX, that is who so be wary peeps they are in my book the worst I have ever dealt with, Rick
