not a relevant question, but why is the water injection more important when running on SVO?

sometimes...

there is ring gumming. the piston rings get all gumed up. and the water removes it all.

I see, there was something about not using synthetic engine oil as well wasn't there? In your link it suggests the addition of diesel also helps. Are you running 100% SVO?

Is your bonnet broken Zippy?
If it's stuck I'll go and measure mine but otherwise what's wrong with YOUR tape measure?
Personally I think it's a waste of time as you're running with diesel anyway. For the work involved you might as well stick some methanol or LPG up it
Good luck

Without mentioning names, didn't one of our members try water injection during a weekend out, and went through a deep puddle.

I don't think it cleared the piston rings, but it probably bent a conrod.

Or do you mean some form of controlled water injection system?

It should produce huge clouds of white smoke though.

Right Zippy, I had a minute while the kettle was boiling
I've been all the way outside to measure it for you It's a very short piece at 45mm . There's also the two circlips there so you've probably only got about 10mm of pipe to work with Why not tap into the intercooler or put it into the turbo side of the intercooler?

taking the intercooler off is an easy job mate, 4 bolts and a couple of clips! and then you can clean it out at the same time.

I have a scrap intercooler here, off the car! so if you want any close up pics or measurements let me know

You'll have to take it off anyway just to fit your nozzle into the pipe
Also I assumed it's a spray mist or similar going in with the air. Sooooooo wouldn't it be better to squirt it in earlier so it gets nicely mixed up with the air before going in to drown a cylinder

I guess you don't want water hanging around or pooling anywhere as it may surge into the engine.

Will you have to disable the water some time before you switch off to get rid of any moisture that may be in the line?

How soon can the water injection take place on a cold engine?
Will the injection only take place above certain revs?
Ahh... but can you also expect better fuel economy?

How big is the nozzle Zippy? That might tell US how much machining YOU will need to do?
