Hello, to a soon to be terrano owner

Hello to all.

My wife and I are about to purchase our first Terrano 2 in the next few days.

Its a 2005 lwb 2.7l in grey. After looking for a while for a big car for the family we have looked at so many. We found one that suits our requirements.

It's not perfect and does in fact have a crack in the front bumper where the current owner was bashed by another car.

I have been trying to source a replacement front bumper but they are proving difficult to find.

Would anyone have any pointers on places to look (checked ebay)

Or the possibility of repairing it, is that advisable?

Hi and welcome. You've come to the right place for terrano/maverick information.
Hopefully you've had a good look under the truck for rot. They are all known to suffer but if looked after, can be relatively trouble free.
There are also members fortunate enough to have more than one truck for spares, so finding a replacement bumper shouldn't be a problem Solarman is down on the south coast and will sort p+p. He is a trusted seller and we do have an agreement that we pay before he posts.
If you do purchase your truck I would also recommend paying the £10 annual membership so you can have access to all content on the site.

Thanks for the advice. And will keep in mind about the membership too.
Once we get it will see about the bumper and if we can live with it or not.

Welcome aboard and you've made the right choice of car, had one since 2002. As said they do rot but nothing we haven't come across here so bags of advice. As said the full membership is well worth it, saved me a fortune.
As for your bumper, make sure you go for the later type as they are different shaped to earlier. Solarman is a great bloke to get bits from but I think his are all the earlier models but I stand to be corrected. I've used a bloke call ed CNCFABS, think he uses the same name as his seller ID on eBay. Have a search for nissan terrano spares on ebay his name is sure to come up and send him a message and say you are a member on here too
You may also be able to fix the bumper once you get your hands on it.

Hello and welcome, try MJM4X4BREAKERS, they have their own web page and are on ebay but don't advertise everything, they have a few terranos in. Like jimsterrano said you will have the facelift bumper but if you are desperate the older shape rounder ones do fit I believe, oh and don't forget to post some pics of the truck up on here

My mechanical and general car knowledge is 0 to nil.
But I'm lucky to have a good friend of mine who is a mechanic, he's worked for land rover/jag/Honda so hes always handy for advice and help.

You guys all see to know your stuff. Having spent a large part of today looking through the forums.
Think the chap max from Spains pictures of old Nissans was a great read and view.

I did want to hold out for a pathfinder. Just something about the shape I like. But when the Terrano was far more accessible money wise it seemed like the right choice.
My plan is to keep this car as long as I can.

Hope so, not afraid to get my hands dirty and have access to tools and possibly even my grandads old garage space, he's 89 now and is merc daft, was still doing all his own repairs until a few years ago. He drives an ex-ambulance that's converted into a motor home.

So hes always there for handy advice too.

You say you're mate used to work on jags a L4nd R£#×%s, be very sure to tell him that your nissan is NOT supposed to leak, he may not be used to the concept yet

I will do. To be fair to him he has always warned me away from anything land rover/ range rover due to his experience with them. He did his apprenticeship with a land rover garage when he was 16, in his 30's now. So has a few years experience and is a handy person to have. I fix his IT issues he does the motors that's how it's always been.
But I'd like to be more confident with them myself. Don't always like asking for help. I know I'm not going to pick it up overnight but feel I'm semi intelligent enough to understand the basics to keep the thing running at least.
