Shower tray

The shower tray on my sprite firebrand has a split, is there a way to repair it as ive tried creeping crack but to no avail, Read about a coating thats available but theres no one this far north, i dont want to replace it as ive been quoted over £300 for a replacement tray. So looking for a diy fix.

Depends on what it's made from, acrylic, GRP?
How deep the crack is, and where, and how thick the material is?

Fibreglass seems a good option. It might be worth looking at what the automative industry use for repairing plastic bumpers I have seen some impressive bumper repairs by local body shop. (Chartwells Derby) I guess it is some sort of glue gun specific for flexible plastics.

That is what I used on the plastic bathroom sink on my old van that had a split running up from the drain. To start with, I just put silicon on the back, but the split carried on running so I was not sure if it did actually stop it leaking or not. I cleaned it all off with silicon remover, and then drilled a 1mm hole at the end of the split to stop it running any further, then I put Insulting tap along the slit on the inside of the sink, to stop anything pushing through the hole or crack, and used my finger to smear Silkoflex all along the split on the back. I started looking for a new sink, but as the van was 20plus years old, I never found one at a reasonable price, and it lasted 4 years until the car hit the back of the van and wrote it off.

I don't think there is going to be an easy way without taking the tray out for you.

One thing to watch though, it in my experience, often the tray splits because the caravan floor under it had de-laminated, causing excessive movement, so you may have to sort that before you put it all back together.

Thanks for replies, van is a 2005 and no floor problems, either end of crack has been drilled so its not getting any bigger. Dont want to remove it as its quite a big moulding and it sort of wraps around the toilet. Was hoping for some miracle cure. Was told that theres a spray on coating but cant remember the name and as most things dont get much past manchester i doubt there will be anyone local. God i sound all doom and gloom

Funny this should come up but my dad has just had the plastic drum on his washing machine repaired with a resin.
Will find out what was used and if it would be any good for your needs.

I have used Tiger seal for all sorts of applications and it seems to stick to anything - need 24 hours to fully cure / dry you can also put glass fibre mesh over between the layers.

I have stuck plastic and metal to glass as well as rubber to slate it is good stuff but items need to be dry when applying.

No but used a boroscope and it's perfectly dry and definitely no distortion under there.
