Default 2" Receiver.

Has anybody done a 2" Receiver Hitch on the back of a Patrol?

I would like to do one, because I like the idea of interchageable tow/recovery soloutions!

has to comply, on an suv, or m class according to eu 9420, S reg or later.

agreed super flexability.

have seen on green oval forums that the G4 vehicles had them but were removed
on return to UK as not legit, shame. irony to me is are a better bet than most of
clip in removeable types seen on market though cant say seen any on nissans.

Would also love a receiver type hitch on mine but not legal for road use in UK.
The ones I have seen far supercede the so called type approved shite we get charged a fortune for to keep us legal in this country.
My towbar spends most of its life in the shed as I only fit it when needed as it's ugly as f**k

its often said for terranos, so presume patrols same, its only 6 bolts
holding bar to chassis and many like Elty remove when not in use.

for me though a truck isnt dressed without the ability to tow at an
instants notice. that ready for anything.

suppose trick is mount electrics in step bumper or away from bar so
one less issue when you take it off.

atleast the troll has meaty recovery loop in step bumper if bar is off.

I know about the legalities but best thing I ever did was remove the plough that was the tow bar and convert from 2 to 1 sockets, means I can off road without catching the back all the time. And also my trailer now tows at the correct height as you can get things like 0-12 inch drops on the tow balls.

I bought essentially the bit you can see from USA via ebay. then cut the old tow bar piece off leaving just the bar that goes from left to right. then cut and weld the receiver onto that remaining bar, also welded cut down plate for electrical socket and a plate with hole for anchor chain.
