A dongle is just a mobile phone without the gubbins as I'm sure you all know.
So if your, say, Vodafone mobile doesn't work in a particular location or gets a weak signal there, then guess what, your dongle won't either. Other than that technical issue, the ISP should have no bearing on access to a URL. |

I have an Orange dongle, and many times I get "could not connect to remote server" I have found that if I open up something else "Yahoo" for instance then while that is connecting open up the 4X4 it works OK, Rick

It will be something generic like Rick describes....ISP's are just a 'pipe' t't t'nternet and nothing more......
As for Orange, well 'crock', 'sh1t' and 'of' spring to mind, not necessarily in that order....Their help desk and internet services are widely regarded as being among the worst.... |

Well, since the work on the server recently,I can only access the site intermittently. Tried all Bats' suggestions but it is no different, got on to my ISP support and did as asked but still no difference, even turned of Firewall, flushed DNS cache but still having problems. Think today is the first day in weeks that I could log on twice. Tried using Internet Explorer,Google Chrome and Firefox. Same result with all of them. On the plus side,it's not just me having problems,so I still feel part of the Nissan 4x4 community.

Why don't you just bugger off back to France and leave us nice people to enjoy some high quality discussion? And leave my Vera out of it, she is going in for NCT (MOT) on August 11th and I'm pretty sure she won't have any issues, at least I hope not.

I haven't had any problems with my talk/talk netgear set up nor with my Vodafone dongle/laptop set up using firefox so I cant see the site set up being the problem. I have been using my dongle on and off since last December and still have £2 left of the original £15, that included an eight week caravan trip when I used it every night!. regards bri.....

well, i have had intermittent access all week here in Hemsby, Norfolk. in fact, couldnt get onto the site about 20 mins ago, now i can. I do wonder if its a 3g/HSDPA thing, perhaps the servers for these connections dont update correctly, or its interference or something equally strange...access via my iPhone (orange) is perfect every time...
