On my motorcycle site we have an active membership of just under 9,000.
We have 8 National events each year, 2 in Scotland, 2 in Ireland, 2 in England and 1 in Wales. Each event is attended by approximately 150 members which equates to 1.6% of the 9,000. It appears that 14 members here have expressed an interest in this years Nation Event here, this equates to approximately 1.75% of the active membership here, so the figures are very similar. In any Club/community there will always be an active 2% of it’s membership that are the movers and shakers i.e. the ones that put in that extra effort to try and motivate people…. unfortunately the other 98% will just sit back and not want to join in or get involved, it’s called human apathy. |

We've called it a National for 5 years as its been the biggest gathering each year
and until other meets get esteablished it will continue to be the National. Just as many other things are off centre in the UK ie The Grand National @ Aintree and even central (!) government. The Caravan Club National is typically at a stately home bounded by the the M1, M62, M6, M5, M4 and the nw M25 - and could more accurately be called the English National and there are also Scottish, Welsh and Irish Nats. Also within the CC are regional 'nationals' ie the 6 Yorkshire centres which in turn take it in turn to host. Suggest for those that want more, or nearer get organising as I sure Tubbs and Co would be happy to advise.

for me it dont matter where it is.
it could be scotland or the isle of weight , i will still try my best to get there. if you had 1, 2 or 10 id still try the same personally i dont think i was being too sensitive . but maybe i was . who knows one thing to concider... unless your a policeman a postman a nurse a teacher. or in the armed forces, everyone else goes to bed at night and worries if they will have a job in the morning. and if they do actually get some sleep. and this is real it really does happen everyone is going skint and people are loosing there jobs without notice or much prospect of getting another job in the near future. so when we tuck our kids in at night, we do prey we dont loose there homes. so some really cant commit and maybe are very touchy about some subjects. i work in construction . and that's been on its knees for around 6 months now. and im not quite ticking over work wise. now as a tiler , i have had to work outside often fitting windows laying bricks /blocks, roofing , scafolding, fitting kitchens . generally anything that pays the bills i dont like it and doubt many would, even if they would do it im a skilled tiler and normally run jobs with several other skilled workers in my team. having to work for some spotty little shit who can say when you arrive for work. "no sorry nothing happening today" so you have wasted a day and fuel 15.00 a day when you could have worked for someone else that day... i really dont like my situation and do worry some of the older members rely on the interest on investments or shares its the same for them, there is little intereset and shares have plumeted so having explained what is happening every day to everyday people im sure you will understand its impossible to commit to a rally. oh and one other thing... in construction 18 years ago i earned 15.00 an hour or 15.00 a metre last year i earned 15.00 an hour or 15.00 a metre so for 18 years construction workers have had no pay rise. so how many civil servants or bus drivers would go 18 years without a pay rise. .......you'd all be out on strick after the first year right now we are working for much less if we can get a day here or there... so in the credit crunch ..... how many of you civil servants are going to take a pay decrease... your jobs are safe so is your pay....and homes. well till next year when you start crying for more money or go on strike so please i dont want to moan or stop people having there say or fun... really i dont. just bare in mind what other families are going through normally id sighn up and pay up front without question |
