One of the wires looks quite yellow but I think it might be more of a white, the pins are numbered on the inside of the plug too Clive. Ignore the Scotch clip wire thingys, they were supposed to be temporary until I decided whether I liked it or not, I have discovered some really good connectors today though, I'm gonna post them eksewhere

Yes, a quick flick of the ignition on and off sorts it. I has to be up very very high though, much higher than I have it.

Sorry for all the questions... I am trying to decide how best to have a play with this... how much do you normally turn it? e.g. much past the half way point, or is it only really in the first half of it?

This is off, it turns anti clockwise and does not do a full revolution, about half/two thirds....

Well I got 5 mins today and this..

All eventually turned into this...

I wired it up as per George's diagram and f**k me this thing shifts, I put a 270 ohm resistor in to stop the resistance dropping too much but on max its immense. No ill effects so far apart from cooking my brakes lol. Well worth it.
