how did you first find this club - Page 4

I bought my Terrano last week and as it had a heating fault i did a search on the net for an owners club and this was the top result... Only to realise that to get any technical info i had to become a member but as it was only a tenner i thought it´s got to be worth a go, well best 10 quid i have spent in a long time!! Prob would of had to think twice about joining in the first place if it was 15+ but would quite happily pay that much now!! I know a couple of clubs i have been a member of in the past do a 1 month subscription for 2-3 quid as a trial... Don´t know if this would maybe attract more people to join?? Every club that has offered this to me i have then gone on to become a full member!

I have a natural aversion to paying club memberships............and so I should have! With everything that I do I get constant requests to join clubs involved in the work that I do. If I joined all of them the yearly bill would be bigger than Santa's shopping list.

However, this one looked honest and it was only a tenner so I joined.........What the hell it's Christmas

I'm glad I did. This site is full of information and, because of the fee, appears to be free of the usual trolls and timewasters that a lot of forums seem to attract like magnets.

I think that the fee is fine and if it puts some off then so be it

Certainly I am glad to pay and will support this club as much as I can.
Although I don't do much off roading I have owned 3 Patsies now as well as a host of other 4x4's as I need heavy and capable tugs for my work.
As a restorative engineer and a capable mechanic I do all my own maintenance and mods.

For someone like me who has never had any real interest in car repairs, etc., this site is excellent. The bits of knowledge I have picked up I have put into practice, something I would never have attempted before. The site encourages 'newbies' like me to have a go, I really appreciate that 'push'. As for the fee, worth every penny. I will certain retain membership.

I'm in my second year of membership, certainly worth it, even if just for the advice. Some great people on here, no timewasters or tyre kickers because of the fee................ A great resource

i dont realy remember how i found the site, but im think it was by acident ( theres a post elsewere i think)

i joined because i could not read all the posts/forum and im a nosey git

i was ok ish paying the £10 without testing the goods first but its been a tenner well spent... i supose

and no i wouldnt pay £20 i would simply join the ausie patrol4x4 site for free.. its busy you know

i visit a few times a day almost every day

Lad I work with told me about the site his Dad had a Maverick and he had all sorts of engine problems that he sorted from this site.

I paid my first £10 and I thought it was a lot as I run an old Mercedes and found a couple of really good MB sites that were free.

As I have a R3mR I found real problems trying to get hold of a manual and thought the £10 was worth a try.

Was not going to bother renewing after that but my PC crashed and I lost my manual so I ended up joining again.

If it went to £20 I probably would not renew my membership unless I had mechanical issues I could not resolve myself.

Hi, I'm a newbie to the site but have owned Maverick/Terrano's for a few years, latest one being an'05 3.00ltr SVE.

Was experiencing some strange problems from rear diff like rear wheel wobble when reversing on full lock and wheel hopping when starting off uphill, and general poor stability round bends poor etc.

Into classic scooters and belong to the LCGB (Lambretta Club GB) so thought maybe there was a Terrano forum and the answer was....YES there is!

Great Tenners worth, got the rear diff oil changed, re-filled with the proper stuff and what a difference! Drives like I thought it should.

So was just about to offload the beast, take a big hit on the value, but this site saved me and provided great piece of mind - best of all I keep the T4.

Would recommend defo!

Hi Paul, welcome to the site. Just taking up scooter riding again after many, many years! I cannot afford another Lambretta as yet, having to do with a Suzuki Bugman 400 which I am buying for the wife! If you have any spare bikes lying around, Ha Ha, give us a shout! Yeah, lot more expensive second time round, first scooter cost me £50 in 1971and surprise, surprise no spare ones around lol!

Still with the Burg you won't break down, couple guys in my local club got them and they're tasty kit.

Yeah, the scooter scenes pretty big, if you get a chance get yourself off to one of the rallies, once you've smelt the two stroke you'll have to sort yourself a Lammy - I did after a holiday in the Isle of Wight that coincided with the National Scooter Rally!

I'll send you a couple of photo's - you can get some bargains if you hunt around.

Was thinking of taking a punt on a T2 on ebay, seller insisted it had big gearbox problems....he'd been quoted £1500 to repair!!

Did a quick google on "Terrano Forums" and this place popped up.

Didn't hesitate paying the £10, asked the question and within 20 mins and several extremely helpful replies later I bought it.

The guys on here were spot on with their diagnosis and I'm a happy bunny.

well since this thread seems to have been woken up....found the site in 2005 trawling for help on my second T2.....most definitely would not pay more than a tenner - most other car clubs are FOC or donations only....worth a punt for a tenner though!

well i first bought a mistral back in 2005 as i needed a 7 seater to take extra family on holiday didnt intend to get a 4x4 a people carrier was on shopping list.

trying to find out a bit more on the jap import i bought led me to the club on the internet at that time it was in its infancy and no charge was made for membership. i contacted Sharkle and he telephoned me to chat and told me about a meet at the JAE that year with the following week 2nd rally at wicksteed i attended both and was hooked.
i got very involved in the club and those older members will remember i use to run the quaterly newsletter as well as being a moderator and commitee chairman.spent many a happy time on the green lanes.

i sold my mistral couple of years ago(i found the old post i made saying i had) that was the biggest mistake i made in cars.

it is good to come back to the site and see it going as it was before if not better and i am glad to have paid my tenner

May the club go from strengh to strength
