I appreciate that here are a lot of wantonly dangerous drivers out there and that most of these measures are to kerb their driving. But i thnk now for all uk drivers the speeding thing has become a lottery where anyone could fall foul at anytime, unless they speed limit their vehicles to 29 mph and drive like a retired vicar. I understand speed is dangerous, but surley any driving is, and the good judgment of experienced drivers is being undervalued in all this?
just my thoughts! |

Cheers for feedback. However if I ask for photo etc.. They can then turn round and give me 6 points and £1000 fine, is that correct?
If I'd parked my van where theres was I would be given a ticket. Would a speed camera detector unit thing have picked a mobile camera van up? |

Mundy, you must phone the "Safety Camera Partnership" office before you either reject or accept the conditional offer. They will advise you on what info will be disclosed before you elect to reject and head for court where the penalties CAN be higher but if found Guilty costs WILL be incurred.
Hope that helps as a starter for ten |

Tezzer.........you will probably be quite distressed to know that they do not need to put out the camera warning signs now in any case and speed limit signs should be treat as an absolute science.
Plank.........Good point and one I have argued (actually got a magazine article published ) , however in this day and age of cost conscious business for everything it is deemed more effective to use a non discretionary camera than have a cop dealing and applying common sense but in the case of real bad guys detecting more offences at a stop. Funny old world. |

Mundy I've just looked again, oops..note to take it all in next time:
Ticket for parking? depends on local parking regs and whetehr you were obstructing the working van. Chances are yes. Detector? depends on your detection equipment and theirs. The Missus road angel as it is set up detects statics and mobiles in our area but not mobiles in some others. Theres forums full of anoraks and databases around the web who can answer you that. |

As far as I know no they can't because your just asking to make 100% sure it was you & not someone else as there are plenty of cloned vehicles on the roads even a member on here addmitted to doing it

No way can they add points for a pic, nor the fine,FACT Now as you were obviously photo'd and not stopped this is what you do. Wait till a few days before the time is up to respond to the letter you've had. Write asking for a photo of the speeding car so you can work out who was driving the car that day. Nothing else. You will eventually recieve a pic of your car and hopefully not a beaming smiling pic of YOU. You then need to carefully check the pic for ANY anomolies with it and your car. Also if the pic is from the back, just say your mate from Australia was driving that day. Simple as If you dont believe me PM me for details absolute |

a/ incitement?
b/ meet my mate going down and we're not talking pleasure. Seriously mundy, be very very careful. Now the cameras have been around a while there aint a defence that hasnt been tried from foreign unidentified relatives (dont forget who the car is regisered to and if it aint its taken away) through to medical emergencies. Despite the folklore theres very very few survive once you take it from lawful process to lottery. |

Well I may have to upset you doubters
Look, no matter what Browns press may say, if you have the address of a friend abroad, you're sorted. EVEN if they actually write to them(which they dont) then your friend just writes back explaining it wasn't him at all. Then plod gets back to you and you give the next excuse, at the end of the alloted period. It works, I've done it, my mates do it ,dont panic. On the anomilies front , that works too. Clones as mentioned , is a huge problem for petrol stations. Just get the pics and work from there. PM me god damn it It's just a tax........................................by the way dont vote Brown next time round |

For the record I am not a fan of speed cameras and I dont support the wholesale / current style of use but they do have certain uses.
BUT I pmsl when I see sites like that. What you must remember is that say 500 successful avoiders contribute to it what is that in proportion to the millions issued? The delaying tactic may be seen as a good one. But if it all goes horrendously wrong for you , and believe you me some of the black rats are pretty decent detectives, you may find yourself at Crown Court in front of the likes of one of ours who is sometimes labelled "Hang em *** " He does not tolerate anyone who "messes about" Been there and seen someone sent down for a relatively minor offence because he used every avoidance and delaying technique in the book, 2 months was the max sentence, we werent even sure of a conviction but it happened and guess how long he got You also leave yourself wide open to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pervert...rse_of_justice Even if you dont get any conviction of any kind theres always the suspicion remaining that you are crooked. You may end up recorded on intelligence and ANPR systems, as you would be legitimately recorded , following the theory that often where theres one thing amiss theres another do you really want to be"pinging up on the radar" for the next year or so ? What happens when other agencies you come into contact with utilise legit info sharing and lo and behold youre there on the screen? No definites there but loads of legit & lawful possibiles. Whatever you choose to do, its all a balnce of risk and expense |
