Must admit I found it easyer to post one pic of each and and then chose my one favorite of each. But its nice to see the pics all the same.

Graham, I also have an Issy to choose pics now, but she really isnt into this stuff!!

My votes are;

1st - no 13
2nd - no 22 (it's the Boss's Missus innit)
3rd - no 21
4th - no 2
5th - no 10

I think they all deserve points though.

Just a thought - if we had a gallery page like before, you could create a folder for each comp. Then everyone could just bung their photos in there - make it easier on the judges

Cheers

Graham

Default photo compertition december 08

Hi
If it was hosted in gallery how would you post comments .
The whole point of it being in a forum is to invite comments directly after the photos are posted. if it was in gallery it would it kill the thread.
It would be a good idea to put the winning photos in there.

Maybe we need to clarify the rules a bit. I think everyone agrees that the photos should be "all your own work" - but ......

* Are the photos supposed to be recently taken or can they be older? (I've got about 30 years worth of negatives salted away )

* Obviously the photos will need cropping or resizing. What other post processing are folks allowed to do?

My suggestion would be that photos should have been taken within the last say 12 months. Post processing should be limited to stuff like cropping, adjusting exposure, brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness and so on but the photo should be basically as taken - no tricky stuff like grafting in an impressive looking sky from a different photo.

Whaddya think?

Cheers

there is no point in having a competition If there Is a need to cheat, or a wish to deceive.

+1 sounds like a good plan to me.

How about:-
  • A themed photo comp... sunsets shots or sea shots or lake shots mountains etc
  • One thread for the photos to be posted in, and any comments/banter etc left in the thread.
  • Then once the closing date has been reached, another thread created by the organiser with all the photos copied into post one for the voting.

Just my 2p's worth

I don't think there's anything in my post that implies that anyone might cheat or intend to deceive - certainly no implication of that kind was intended. Photographers quite often extensively post process photographs in the name of art. You only need to pickup and glance through any of the photographic mags on the shelves at WH Smiths to see the kinds of techniques that are commonly used to make silk purses out of sows ears.

I was merely suggesting what I think is a common-sense boundary. Feel free to disagree.

Cheers

Default december photo comp

HI PLEASE DONT MAKE THINGS TO COMPLICATED .
IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS OF HOW TO MAKE IT EASY /QUICK AS POSSIBLE TO ORGANISE THEN THAT WOULD BE APPRECIATED OR IF ANYONE WANS TO RUN IT THATS OK AS WELL.

REMEMBER I AM NOT VERY GOOD WITH COMPUTORS

AFTER ALL ITS ONLY A BIT OF FUN.
I THINK AS REGARDS ALTERING PICTURES WHATS THE POINT .
AS LONG AS PICTURES ARE YOUR OWN EFFORTS TAKEN WHEN EVER ,
IT DONT MATTER.
AFTER ALL THE IDEA IS TO TAKE PICTURES AS AND WHEN THE OPPERTUNITYS ARISE
