No, had 100w 24v bulbs in before, came off a truck.

I had 100/140w's in my MkII capri with a pai of 55w Wipac Har Raisers to boot, before the Granada Alternator mod Full beam would limit the power to the coil and cut the engine out that was In 1994 just before the V8 went in.
The same spots are now going onto my new truck ( some 19 years later ) till I get a new front bumper sorted

Awesome, reminded me of when I tried to jumpstart the terrano with the Hyundai, everytime you cranked the Terrand it'll die, even holding it firmly on the redline it'll drop to about 1500 rpm

Please do not tell me you tried to jump start the T2 (or any car for that matter) while the engine was still running on the other car...

That is the quickest way to kill the alternator ever, and quiet possibly set fire to the engine bay as the wires catch fire. Sounds like you are very lucky.

You should never start a dead car with the engine running on the other car...

It is fine to connect the batteries, and let the "good" car run for a while to put some charge into the dead battery, and bring the volts up, but always stop the car before trying to start the dead one.

I never knew that, I thought it'll just kill the good cars battery if you didn't have it running?

A starter motor draws several hundred amps. When the engine is running, the alternator has the highest voltage, and therefore when you try to start the car with the dead battery it tries to draw all the current from the alternator and only when the amount of current being drawn makes the output voltage of the alternator fall below the battery voltage, will it start to draw from the battery.

The diodes, windings and slip rings of the alternator are not capable of providing the sort of current the starter motor draws, and one of them will give.

Sh1t well, that's the end of ho I done it, will jump the car from a discharging battery for now on, and start the good car afterwards to charge it back up

Never knew that, I have jumped many vehicles that way and never had a problem
