Courts can be a bit strange with costs, the fine should always be higher than the costs, as the fine is the punishment not the costs. I take a number of cases out through work and depended upon the Judge/presiding Magistrate they will amend cost applications, mainly we do get higher costs but only if they are not massively more than the fine (upto about £2k but we are talking about fines of thoasands)

pester the local trading standards, they have a duty to enforce their legislation no matter how minor. there is a whole suite of actions they can take from a warning letter through prosecution to complete closure. if they won't action anything make a formal complaint to the ts about their conduct.

4PM on the 26th should have seen a pile of documents land on my doorstep.
