Geoff, I lived with it fortunately the speedo was sound. My problems were with the rev counter and the milometer.
When it was having a bad day the milometer showed random numbers so my mileage ranged from less than average up to space ship The rev counter lost its marbles now and then , to fix that I restarted everything , took the revs up to just beyond the point the needle was showing and that "reset it" I seem to recall seeing somewhere that could fix them and it was about the same as one from a scrapper, just over £100. Having said all of that I understand theres several types and mine was from the crap crowd and on a 2002 T2 2.7 tdi |

just beware of using tomtom for speed. It is accurate but not instantaneous like the speedo
laser guns are instantaneous if you know what I mean and if you do get stopped do not give the defence of "my speedos knackered" (unless youve got a tacho) , that would send the points and fine spinning like a fruit machine |

Where did you buy this truck? privaterly or from a dealer/trader, cos if its the latter, regardless of what they say, the law effectively makes them provide six months warranty. Not a matter for discussion, just hoik it back.....

It was from a dealer, "sold as seen". Not sure we have any grounds to take it back?

Disconnect the linkage from the lock barrel and see if you can turn the key freely in it. Then work out which bit going into the latch actually activates it and secures the door. Disconnect the linkage to that, sit in the truck and click it over with a screwdriver. youre on a roll Basically youve split the system into three units, barrel, latch and linkage . you will then know which one or more is defective |

No such thing as 'sold as seen' from a business. They have to abide by the law, and the law says whatever they sell has to be fit for purpose. Take it back, tell em you're not happy with it, see what happens.
