Allegedly the top notch dogs bollocks stuff to use is peanut oil and is what the engine was invented for

sunflower oils smells better as well

Red diesel can't be dyed a different colour, and those numpties at customs test for it........... one heck of a fine if caught... plus, its crap for engines, doesn't have the additives that blue has. Ever watched a ship steam out of port? the black smoke is just unreal, even if the ship is new...... its running on heating oil and carries around 20,000 gallons of the stuff.

To continue the thread, will my nissan 2.7 on an X plate (2000), fitted with the bosche MAF, run on veggie oil and/or bio? I've heard horror stories and never dared as its my daily ride but the blue is getting dearer now and my wages have not increased
So, what do others think?

My info is that red diesel has a detectable DNA ........ it can be detected in the exhaust fumes by VOSA

I ran a 2002 2.7tdi TII on 100% veggie. No problems at all. Flew through emmison checks, towed the caravan no problems and showed no sign at all of premature wear over thousands of miles.

I did put diesel in now and then for convenience and lube but usually a tank full at a time and no more than every 4th or 5th fill up.

I changed the engine oil every 5 to 8 thou (do on all my cars) and it never used any in between changes. Nor did the oil show any sign of the alleged excess water in it.

Providing you have a truck that has the right bits such as non common rail or a bosch pump (cant remember for sure tbh ) and with the age of these engines its well established , you'll find most of the doubters base their arguments on hear say and internet pyscho babble

Does anyone know if you can run the 3.0 diesel on a veg oil /diesel mix as do about 400 miles a week and would be nice to lessen the fuel bill a bit .

Its not the MAF thats the issue its the fuel pump......and I believe Bosch is the pump to have...like Daved I have run a lot of SVO in my 02 truck, normally around 50/50 mix, with no issues.

And until you know someone who HAS had a problem, stories is what they are, as Daved says!

My 3.0 SVE auto is currently running on 100% veg oil. Bit slow to start on the cold mornings as I need to wait for the glow plug light to go off before starting. Goes well on it and only 80p a litre

The only problem I had was when I went for an MOT it nearly failed because the admissions were so low the computer would not print out a ticket.

Get one of the small preheaters. You should be able to get one off ebay for £20 to £30 they do work if youre using vege during the cold.
