The tech sections are only viewable to club members hence the reason the newbies are asking their questions in the "I'm new here, please be gentle" section. The idea being that we make them feel welcome and hopefully they join up.... having said that I can see your point |

The point is if members post questions anywhere but in the right section, the it's as you put it "broke" not being funny but if I am looking to see if someone as the same problem as me I look in the tec section, if I am looking if someone is over here in the northwest I look in that section, not just take pot luck and pick a section to take a look in and hope what I am looking for is there, if thats the case I may as well just use Google.

[QUOTE=Bat21;41391]I have replied to your comments here rather than in the thread that you posted this in as I feel this merits its own thread.
The active membership is growing on a daily basis, by active I am referring to members that actually log on regularly and not just an out of date list of people that joined and never returned We have had 276 new registrations in the last 2 months The feedback that I regularly receive is that the club in general is a much more relaxed place than it previously was under the old regime. Maybe the ones that no longer frequent don’t like this new approach fortunately they are certainly in the minority. Well that's bloody clever That works out at 34 .5 people each week So there is a half person some where on the site ( would you please come out and be counted kind regards |

Thanks for that BatFrom what I can remember the club used to get about 2-4 new members a week (fully paid up) so TBH that side of things the numbers have dropped but on the other hand the club has gained more free members

Yes but on the old site you HAD to pay to be a member before you could see anything, many of the so called old members that had parted with their hard earned cash never came back after just one day, the new members that are joining up now are doing so because they want to..... I'd have never slept at night leaving it the way it was when I took over |

Take a step back everyone and have a think.
Perhaps both sites had different qualities? certainly both contain or contained stacks of usefull info. If there's a particular post that you don't like just ignore it. If you or others ask a technical question it usually gets answered. After the spat the other week posts are not getting hijacked in the same way and fun stuff or chatting is being kept to the pub area. Just look at last nights post about having a drink, it kept the site busy without contaminating the tech stuff. We all thanked Mav for running such a cracking site so lets hope we'll be able to do the same for Bat. I'm sure neither Mav or Bat have a great time of it trying to keep everyone happy. Right that's my tuppance hapeni Jim T |

With all due respect, I think one bone of contention is that "Stone-wall" long time members had to pay their tenners before getting any help with truck problems, whereas people can now come on site and get help and information for free. Maybe such help should be "diluted", but as a member of both the old and new versions of the club I have found BOTH to be invaluable in keeping my truck happy, and the friendly banter to be a source of great humour.
Maybe a "Think-Tank" of suggestions could be sent in by members regarding the way ahead for keeping the club a successful happy family of Nissan & Maverick truck owners, so come on guys and gals, what do you think ? |

My understanding of the new sites moderation was to be more relaxed and only intervine if a topic was getting seriously out of hand, i may be mistaken on this.
also when i joined this club originally there was a section open to non members who were allowed to ask a tech question... and it was answered with out hessitation and at end if the question it was ponted out that joining the club would offer them invaluable resources. if they tried to ask another tech question on the free section it was not answered but they were advised to join to get the answers and it proved to be a good formula. if this is to be continued on the new site than i request BAT to leave a stickey on the open sections a " read me before posting" explaining the options available in the open section. i.e. we offer limited assistance there and in order to availe of the full use of the club membership is needed!
